Changelog
- May 13, 2026description
Hand out a different email to every site, without ever signing in to a third-party service. Email Alias Generator turns the hostname of whatever tab you're on into a unique throwaway address — for example [email protected] or [email protected] — and lets you copy it or autofill it directly into the signup form. The address is generated entirely inside your browser. Nothing is sent to any server, no account is created anywhere, and you don't need an API key. Why a generator instead of "just type a random address"? Because consistent, sortable, easy-to-block aliases beat the random ones you make up at 11pm. Every alias carries the site's name, so when an unfamiliar one starts getting spam you know exactly who leaked it — and you can block that one address forever without disturbing any other. Works with what you already have The extension produces well-formed addresses; whichever provider you've already configured does the actual delivery. Tested mental models include: SimpleLogin, AnonAddy / addy.io, or Proton Pass with a custom domain and catch-all switched on Apple iCloud Mail with a custom domain (catch-all) Fastmail catch-all on a custom domain Self-hosted setups (Mailcow, Mailu, Postfix + rewriting, etc.) Plain Gmail, Outlook, or Proton without a custom domain — switch on plus-addressing mode and the extension produces [email protected] What's in the popup Site name auto-detected from the active tab (with optional shortenings — news.ycombinator.com becomes hn) Random suffix you can re-roll with a single click Multiple alias domains with per-domain default Copy to clipboard, or fill the focused email field on the page What's in the settings Format editor: separator (. - _ none), suffix kind (digits / hex / random word / none), suffix length, ordering, lowercase, plus-addressing Per-domain format overrides — your personal catch-all uses one format, a Gmail plus-address uses another Site-name override map for hostnames that produce ugly slugs Local searchable history with notes, copy-back, and JSON or CSV export — capped (or fully disabled) to keep storage tiny Backup: export every setting and the full history to a single JSON file; import on another machine with one click Keyboard and right-click Default shortcut Alt+Shift+E generates, copies, and (where possible) autofills in one keystroke. Rebindable from your browser's extension shortcut settings. Right-click any email field on a page for "Generate alias email for this site" Privacy, in plain terms Zero network requests. Confirm with DevTools → Network at any time. No telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, no remote configuration. Everything is stored locally in your browser's extension storage. The page-autofill capability requires an extra permission that is requested only the first time you use it. The extension never reads other content on the page. The full privacy statement is in PRIVACY.md in the source repository. Open source Source code, issue tracker, and roadmap live on GitHub under the MIT license. Contributions welcome — the project is deliberately tiny and dependency-free so anyone can read the whole thing in an afternoon.
