About

omi-a11y is a free accessibility scanner that checks any webpage for WCAG issues — instantly, without any setup.

Open any page, hit Scan, and meet Omi: your friendly guide through every accessibility issue found. Omi explains what's wrong, why it matters, and how to fix it — in plain language, without the technical overwhelm.

── WHAT IT CHECKS ──

25 automated checks across 11 categories, covering WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA:

- Image accessibility — missing alt text, empty alt on linked images, suspicious decorative alt
- Link accessibility — empty links, misplaced accessible names
- Form inputs — inputs, selects, and textareas missing labels
- Buttons & widgets — buttons with no accessible name, custom widgets missing tabindex
- Headings & structure — missing H1, multiple H1s, skipped heading levels, missing page title
- Landmark regions — missing or duplicate main, missing nav landmark
- Page language — missing lang attribute on html element
- Colour contrast — severe and mild contrast failures, with large text and alpha transparency support
- Keyboard navigation — positive tabindex, click-only elements, removed focusable elements, missing keyboard handlers
- Toggle & ARIA state — missing aria-expanded on toggles and inferred toggle buttons
- Dialog management — dialogs missing aria-modal, labels, or focus management

── SEVERITY LEVELS ──

Every issue is classified as an Error, Warning, or Info — so you always know what needs fixing now versus what's worth reviewing.

── ACCESSIBILITY SCORE ──

Get a 0–100 compliance score with a letter grade and a full breakdown of every deduction. The scoring uses diminishing returns for repeated issues so large sites aren't unfairly penalised for volume.

── OTHER FEATURES ──

- Element highlighting — click any issue to highlight the exact element on the page
- Fix suggestions — every issue includes a plain-language explanation and a code example
- Focus order visualiser — see exactly how keyboard users Tab through the page
- Export report — share results with your team or client in one click
- Viewport-aware — skips off-screen elements for accurate, relevant results

── WHO IT'S FOR ──

Developers, designers, content editors, students, and anyone who wants the web to work for everyone. No account needed. No data collected. Works on any site.
