About

ElementShot makes it easy to take better screenshots of web pages. Click any part of a page and save it as an image right away. You can add a highlighted border, keep a clean viewport shot, or save just the piece you picked. It's great for bug reports, tutorials, design feedback, and documentation.

You can customize the border color, width, style, and spacing to match your needs. Save your settings once and reuse them every time. Everything runs in your browser, so captures are fast and private.

Features:
- Pick any element on the page with a click
- Capture the full view with a highlighted border
- Capture the full view with no border
- Save just the piece you selected as a cropped image
- Customize border color, width, style, and spacing
- Save your settings for next time
- Press Esc to cancel anytime

How it works:
1. Click the ElementShot icon in your browser toolbar
2. Press "Pick Element"
3. Move your mouse over the page and watch elements light up as you hover
4. Click what you want to capture
5. Your screenshot downloads right away

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are my screenshots private?
A: Yes. Everything happens in your browser. Your screenshots are never uploaded anywhere, and ElementShot doesn't collect any data about you or your browsing.

Q: What exactly gets saved in the screenshot?
A: You choose. You can save the whole visible page with a border around what you picked, the whole visible page with no border, or just the single element you selected.

Q: Can I capture parts of the page I have to scroll to see?
A: ElementShot captures what's currently on your screen. If you want something further down the page, scroll to it first and then pick it.

Q: Why doesn't it work on some pages?
A: Browsers don't allow extensions to run on special pages like the new tab page, settings pages, or the Chrome Web Store itself. ElementShot works on any normal website.

Q: Can I change how the border looks?
A: Yes. Open Settings from the popup to pick a color, change the thickness, choose solid, dashed, or dotted lines, and adjust spacing around your selected element.

Q: How do I cancel without taking a screenshot?
A: Just press the Esc key.

Q: What kind of image file do I get?
A: A PNG file, which keeps text and buttons looking sharp. It saves to your normal downloads folder.

Q: Does it look good on high-resolution screens?
A: Yes. Screenshots stay crisp on Retina displays and other high-resolution screens.

Q: The picker isn't highlighting anything or my screenshot won't download. What should I do?
A: Try restarting your browser. If you just installed or updated ElementShot, some tabs that were already open may need a fresh start before it can work on them. Closing and reopening your browser usually fixes it. You can also try reloading the page you're trying to capture.
