AegisPrompt Scanner is a free, lightweight Chrome extension that runs entirely on your device. Unlike traditional security tools, it doesn't block, warn, or interrupt anything. It just watches what you submit, scans for sensitive data patterns, and keeps a running count on the extension icon. Click the icon whenever you're curious to see your report.
 
Most people are surprised by what they find. That's the point.
 
WHY THIS EXISTS
 
89% of professionals use AI tools at work. 1 in 4 have accidentally shared sensitive information. Most of those people would tell you, with confidence, that they're "careful about what they send to ChatGPT." The Scanner exists because confidence and reality are different things, and you can only see the gap if something is actually counting.
 
This extension is intentionally passive. There's no prevention, no blocking, no enforcement — just visibility. We built it that way because awareness has to come before action. You can't fix a problem you don't see.

All detection happens locally in your browser using pattern matching. The Scanner never reads AI responses, only what you submit.

HOW IT WORKS
 
1. Install the Scanner from the Chrome Web Store
2. Use AI like you normally would — no signup, no login, no setup
3. The Scanner counts sensitive data in the background
4. Click the extension icon whenever you want to see your report
5. The popup shows your full breakdown: types of data, counts, and which platforms
 
That's it. There is no step 6.
 
PRIVACY (THE IMPORTANT PART)
 
- All detection data stays on your device in chrome.storage.local
- No backend, no server, no sync, no account
- Zero network calls — ever
- We cannot see your prompts or your detection counts
- Uninstall the extension and the data is gone
 
The Scanner is a self-contained Chrome extension. There is nothing for it to phone home to, because there is nothing it phones home to. You can verify this by inspecting the extension's source on the Chrome Web Store, or by monitoring network traffic in Chrome DevTools while using it.
 
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
 
- Does NOT block sensitive data — the goal is visibility, not enforcement
- Does NOT show pop-ups, warnings, or modals mid-conversation
- Does NOT read AI responses or capture anything beyond detection counts
- Does NOT upload, transmit, or share your data with anyone, including us

Pattern matching is imperfect. The Scanner may occasionally miss novel data formats or flag false positives. It's designed to be directionally accurate, not forensically precise — the goal is awareness, not enforcement.
