GudChat is an AI-powered browser side panel that lets you chat with any AI model about the page you're browsing. Use your own API keys or local models — no subscription, no markup, no data collection.

What GudChat does:

Opens as a side panel next to any webpage (Ctrl+Shift+G / Alt+Shift+G).
Sends page content as context to your chosen AI model.
Summarizes pages, explains selected text, helps fill forms, and extracts data.
Select text on any page for instant actions: Explain, Summarize, Rewrite, Shorten, Expand, Simplify, Reply.
Beautiful markdown rendering with syntax-highlighted code blocks, tables, blockquotes, and clickable links.
Upload or paste images for vision-capable models (GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini, LLaVA)
Stop generation mid-response with one click

Slash commands:
/search — Search the web and get AI-summarized answers with sources
/compare — Send the same prompt to multiple models side by side
/translate — Translate selected text or page content between languages
/export — Save conversations as Markdown or JSON
/prompts — Open your prompt template library

Custom prompt templates:
Create your own reusable prompts beyond the built-in actions. "Translate to Spanish," "Write unit tests," "Convert to bullet points" — save them to your library and use them with one click.

Model comparison:
Compare responses from different models side by side. Select 2 or more providers, send a prompt, and see all responses stream in parallel. Great for evaluating which model works best for your use case.

Web search + AI:
Type /search followed by your query. GudChat searches the web, gathers results, and uses your AI model to synthesize an answer with source links. Optionally add a Brave Search API key for full web results (free tier: 2,000 queries/mo).

Supported AI providers:
GudChat supports both local and cloud AI models. For private, offline use, it works with Ollama, LM Studio, and LocalAI — no API key required. 

For cloud access, bring your own key and connect to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Mistral, or OpenRouter.

Privacy first:
All conversations stored locally in your browser — never on our servers
