    description
SEO Inspector by Arvow is a free Chrome extension that gives you a complete SEO audit of any webpage in seconds — plus an AI citation readiness score, internal link opportunities, schema analysis, and your full Google Search Console dashboard, all in one place.
Whether you're analyzing a competitor's page, auditing your own content, or researching a keyword on Google, SEO Inspector gives you the data you need without switching between tools.
No subscription required. Works on any public webpage. Built by the team at Arvow.com.

OVERVIEW TAB — Your SEO Health Score at a Glance
The first thing you see when you open the extension is your SEO health score out of 100. This score is calculated from 20+ technical signals and gives you an immediate read on how well-optimized the page is.
Issues are organized into three tiers so you always know what to tackle first:

Critical — things that are actively hurting your rankings right now, like a missing H1, no HTTPS, or images without alt text. Each critical issue has a direct link to the relevant tab so you can jump straight to the fix.
Opportunities — things that aren't breaking your SEO but are leaving performance on the table, like a missing meta description, no FAQ section, or no structured data.
Passed checks — a collapsible list of everything working correctly, so you can confirm what's already in good shape.

Below the issues list, you'll see a metrics grid showing word count, image count, total links, and your AI citation score — all at a glance.
If you have Google Search Console connected and you're on one of your own pages, the Overview tab also shows live GSC data for that specific URL: clicks, average position, and top 3 ranking keywords. Real data from your own account, surfaced right where you need it.
The call-to-action at the bottom of the Overview tab is context-aware: if there are critical errors, it links you to Arvow's Site Optimizer. If the page is clean and you're on a competitor's URL, it offers to generate a competing article. If it's your own page, it offers to help you improve it.

AI TAB — AI Citation Readiness Score
This is the most unique feature of the extension and one that doesn't exist anywhere else as a free tool.
The AI tab scores any page on 18 signals across three categories that determine how likely it is to be cited by AI systems like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overview.
Citability (8 signals) — Is the page structured in a way that AI can extract clean, citable answers from it?

Question-format headings — AI systems match headings directly to user queries. H2s starting with "What is...", "How to...", "Why does..." are far more likely to be cited than generic topic headings.
Direct answer sentences — Opening each section with a 1-2 sentence direct answer before expanding is the single biggest citation signal. AI systems pull the first complete sentence after a heading.
Focused answers — Sections where the answer after a question heading is under ~150 words get cited significantly more than long rambling answers.
Definition statements — "X is a..." sentence patterns are the most-cited format across all major AI systems.
Structured lists — Numbered lists are cited 3x more often than prose paragraphs.
Tables and comparisons — Comparison tables are heavily cited by Perplexity and ChatGPT for high-intent queries.
Summary / TL;DR section — A key takeaways section at the top or bottom of an article is frequently pulled as the cited excerpt.
Readable paragraphs — Paragraphs over 80 words hurt AI parseability. The extension flags any that exceed this threshold.

Authority (5 signals) — Does the page signal trust and expertise to AI systems?

Author identified — AI systems heavily weight attributed content. The extension checks for author markup, byline elements, and author page links.
Publication date — Checks for datePublished schema, time elements, and visible date patterns in the byline.
Content freshness — A "last updated" date signals maintained, fresh content which AI systems prefer.
External citations — Pages that cite authoritative external sources are seen as more trustworthy. The extension checks for 3+ outbound links.
Data or statistics — Original research and cited statistics are cited at much higher rates by AI systems.

Format (5 signals) — Is the content in the formats AI systems prefer to quote?

FAQ section — FAQ content is cited verbatim by AI systems more than any other format. The extension detects FAQ sections including JavaScript accordions, HTML5 disclosure widgets, and question-format headings.
How-to or step-by-step — Numbered step content with ordered lists is the most-cited format structure.
Comparison content — "X vs Y" sections and comparison tables match high-intent AI queries.
"What is X" section — Definition-style headings are the most common AI-cited passage type.
Long-form content — Comprehensive content of 1,500+ words is cited 4x more than short pages.

Each failed signal shows exactly what's wrong and links directly to Arvow's AI SEO Writer pre-filled with the keyword and the specific issue — so you can generate citation-ready content immediately.
Citation Gap — Section by Section
Below the signal scores, the AI tab shows a section-by-section citation gap analysis. Every H2 and H3 on the page is scored individually on readiness: Green = citation-ready, Yellow = improvable, Red = needs restructuring.
For each low-readiness section, you get specific, actionable suggestions like "open with a direct answer sentence" or "add a bullet or numbered list" — not generic advice. Each section also has a "Rewrite →" link that opens Arvow's AI writer pre-filled with that specific heading so you can generate an improved version immediately.
This is the only tool that tells you not just whether a page will get cited, but exactly which sections will be pulled and which won't.

CONTENT TAB — Keyword Signals and Heading Structure
The Content tab shows you the detected primary keyword, word count with a visual bar, and a full heading tree showing every H1, H2, H3, and H4 on the page in document order.
    Keyword signals:

Keyword in title — Is the primary keyword present in the title tag?
Keyword in H1 — Is the keyword in the main heading?
Keyword in intro — Does the primary keyword appear in the first 200 characters of body text?
Keyword density — The percentage of the body text that is the primary keyword. Flagged as low (<0.5%) or high (>2.5%).

You vs Them (competitor pages with GSC connected):
When you're on a competitor's page and have Google Search Console connected, the Content tab shows a side-by-side comparison: their word count, schema count, and heading structure vs what Arvow would generate to compete with it. This helps you understand the gap between the competitor's content and what it would take to outrank them.
If you don't have GSC connected, this section shows a locked state with a prompt to connect — it only becomes meaningful when we can compare against your own site's data.

META TAB — Title, Description, and Indexing Signals
The Meta tab shows a detailed breakdown of every meta signal that affects how your page appears in search results.
    Title tag:
The current title is shown with a visual character bar. Green = optimal length (30-60 chars), Red = too long (gets truncated in Google). If the title is missing or out of range, an inline callout shows the specific issue and links to Arvow's Site Optimizer to fix it.
    Meta description:
Same treatment — character bar with status. If the description is missing, too short (<70 chars), or too long (>160 chars), you get a specific inline message:

Missing → "No description — lower click-through rate on every impression"
Too long → "Gets truncated in search results"
Too short → "Try expanding to 120-155 chars"
Optimal length → "Looks good — want an AI-optimised variant?"

    Keyword signals:

    Keyword in title
    Detected primary keyword

    Indexing signals:

    Canonical URL
    Robots meta tag
    Hreflang configuration
    Language attribute
    HTTPS status

    Social preview:
Shows the Open Graph image, OG title length, and OG description length. If no OG tags exist, shows a red warning: "No Open Graph tags — links shared on LinkedIn, Slack, or Twitter won't show a preview card." This is a commonly missed issue that hurts click-through from social sharing.

LINKS TAB — On-Page Links, Internal Link Opportunities, and Image Audit
The Links tab has three sections:
    Internal link opportunities:
When you're on one of your own pages with GSC connected, the extension automatically finds unlinked keyword mentions on the current page that correspond to other pages on your site. For each opportunity it shows:

The anchor text (2-5 words, matching your GSC page URLs)
    The target page URL
How many clicks/month the target page gets — so you can prioritise by traffic impact

For example: if your homepage mentions "autoblog" three times but doesn't link to your /autoblog page, the extension surfaces that as an opportunity with the suggested anchor text and click count.
When on a competitor's page, this section shows a note explaining that internal linking opportunities only apply to your own site, with a prompt to connect GSC.
    Link breakdown:

    Internal link count
    External link count
    Nofollow count

    Image audit:

    Total images on the page
    How many have alt text
How many are missing alt text (flagged in red)

For each image missing alt text, the extension shows a thumbnail, the filename, and a suggested alt text generated from the filename and nearby heading content — with a one-click Copy button. So instead of just knowing "28 images are missing alt text", you can immediately copy a suggested fix for each one.

SCHEMA TAB — Structured Data Analysis
Structured data (schema markup) is what enables rich results in Google — star ratings, FAQ expandable sections, article bylines, how-to steps, and more. The Schema tab gives you a complete view of what's there and what's missing.
    Active schema:
Every JSON-LD schema type found on the page is listed with its icon and a description of exactly what it unlocks in search results:

Article / BlogPosting → "Author byline + date in SERPs, E-E-A-T signals"
FAQPage → "Expandable Q&A in SERPs + frequently cited by ChatGPT"
HowTo → "Step-by-step rich results with images in Google"
AggregateRating → "Star ratings shown directly in search results"
BreadcrumbList → "Breadcrumb trail shown under URL in SERPs"
LocalBusiness → "Google Maps + Knowledge Panel integration"
VideoObject → "Video thumbnail + duration in search results"

For Article schema, the extension drills down to show whether the author name is set, whether the publication date is present, and whether the publisher is defined — since these all affect E-E-A-T scoring.
Missing schema — what you're losing:
The extension shows a focused list of the most impactful missing schema types (max 3-4, no redundancy). For each missing type:

    The icon and type name
What you're missing out on in specific terms (e.g. "Missing → Expandable Q&A in SERPs + frequently cited by ChatGPT")
    A Not Found badge

For FAQPage, Article, and BreadcrumbList — the most commonly needed types — the extension shows a ready-to-use JSON-LD template pre-filled with your page's actual data:

FAQPage: two Q&A pairs using your detected primary keyword
Article: your actual title, detected author, today's date, and publisher name
BreadcrumbList: your actual URL structure converted into proper breadcrumb items

Each template has a "Copy JSON-LD" button so you can paste it directly into your CMS or <head> tag.

LOCAL TAB — Local SEO Signals (Shown Contextually)
The Local tab only appears when the extension detects local SEO signals on the page — like a LocalBusiness schema, a phone number, a street address, or location keywords in the title or H1. It doesn't show on blog posts, SaaS pages, or other non-local content where local SEO doesn't apply.
When shown, it scores the page across 6 signals that determine local search and Google Maps rankings:

LocalBusiness schema — The most critical signal for Maps rankings and Knowledge Panel
NAP (Name, Address, Phone) — Google cross-references NAP data across the web for trust signals
Google Maps embed — Geographic relevance signal for the location
Location in title/H1 — Whether the city or region is explicitly named in the key headline fields
Reviews & ratings — AggregateRating schema enables star ratings in SERPs
Breadcrumb navigation — BreadcrumbList schema for site structure clarity

For each failed signal, the extension explains what you're missing out on — for example "Reviews & ratings → Star ratings in SERPs — up to 35% more clicks".

GSC DASHBOARD — Your Full Traffic Data
Click the chart icon in the top-right corner to open the Google Search Console dashboard. Connect once with your Google account and get access to:
    Site-wide stats:

    Total clicks (28-day and 90-day)
    Total impressions
    Average CTR
    Average position

All four metrics show period-over-period change with colour-coded arrows (green = improving, red = declining).
    90-day traffic chart:
A canvas-rendered line chart showing your click or impression trend over the last 90 days. Toggle between Clicks and Impressions with one click.
    Top pages table:
Your top 50 pages by click volume with:

Click count and period-over-period % change
A proportional bar showing relative traffic volume
Expandable keyword rows for each page

Click any page to expand it and see up to 8 keywords that page ranks for, with:

    Current position
    Position delta (↑ improving / ↓ declining)
    Click count
28-day position sparkline (green = position improving, red = declining)

    Dynamic CTA:
The dashboard call-to-action updates based on your actual data:

    Traffic dropped >10% → recovery-focused CTA
Average position 11-20 → "one push to reach page 1" CTA
Low CTR with high impressions → title/description improvement CTA
Growing traffic → content generation CTA

    Inline page stats on Overview:
When you're browsing one of your own pages, the Overview tab automatically loads GSC data for that specific URL — clicks, average position, and top 3 keywords — so you see the SEO analysis and the traffic data together without switching to the dashboard.

SERP ANALYSIS — When You Search on Google
When you open the extension while on a Google search results page, it shows a SERP analysis instead of the page inspector (since analyzing google.com itself isn't useful).
On Google search pages, the extension also automatically injects a SERP Analysis panel above the organic results showing:

    Current keyword
Keyword difficulty: Easy / Moderate / Medium / Hard / Dominated — based on which SERP features are active
Each detected SERP feature (AI Overview, Featured Snippet, People Also Ask, Video Carousel, Local Pack, Shopping, Top Stories) with its impact level and what it means for organic visibility

    AI Overview citations:
When Google shows an AI Overview for a query, the extension detects which domains are being cited as sources and marks those results in the organic list with a green "◆ Cited in AI Overview" badge. This tells you at a glance which of your competitors Google's AI is already trusting — and which content structure they used to earn that citation.
Arvow's AI SEO Inspector is a free Chrome extension that gives you a complete SEO audit of any webpage in seconds — plus an AI citation readiness score, local SEO audit with citation checker, map pack competitor analysis, internal link opportunities, schema analysis, and your full Google Search Console dashboard, all in one place.

Whether you're analyzing a competitor's page, auditing your own content, researching a keyword on Google, or checking local SEO signals, the AI SEO Inspector gives you the data you need without switching between tools.
