About

Stop the junk tabs that open behind the page when you click.

Popunders ride on your real clicks. You click a video or a link, and a tab quietly opens behind it with an ad. Chrome's built-in blocker lets these through, because to the browser it looks like you opened them yourself. No Popunder goes after the technique itself, so there is no blocklist to fall out of date.

How it works, in two layers:
- Smart (everywhere, on by default): a cross-site pop-up is blocked unless it directly followed you clicking a real link or button. Logins, payment windows, and intentional "open in new tab" keep working, while pop-ups fired from the video, the page, or an invisible overlay get stopped.
- Strict (one click per site): for sites that have no legitimate pop-ups, block every cross-site pop-up, including the ones inside the player's iframes. Flip it on for a streaming site that still leaks and it takes effect right away, with no reload.

You stay in control:
- The toolbar badge shows how many pop-ups were blocked on the current page.
Click the icon to see the offending domains, allow any domain in one click, or switch the site between Smart and Strict.
- A local Stats page shows where pop-ups come from, and lets you allow a domain or make a site strict straight from the table.

Private by design:
- No servers, no analytics, no tracking, no account.
- Nothing leaves your device, and the extension makes no network requests of its own.
- The only data it keeps is a local tally of blocked domains (host names, never full URLs or page content) that you can view, export, or wipe anytime.
- Free and open source under GPLv3.
- Works in Chrome and every Chromium browser: Brave, Edge, Arc, Opera, Vivaldi.

Getting started:
- Install and pin the icon to your toolbar.
- Browse normally. Popunders are blocked automatically, and logins still work.
- If a streaming site still leaks, open the popup and turn on Strict for that site.

Support:
No Popunder is open source. Questions, bug reports, and sites that still leak: open an issue at github.com/nimitbhargava/no-popunder.
