About
Copy any video from the web and paste it straight into your chat — no downloads, no saving to disk, no extra apps. Right-click a video, choose "Copy Video," then switch to your chat or compose box and press Ctrl+Shift+V. The video appears in the upload preview, just like dragging a file in. WHERE YOU CAN COPY FROM Reddit (HLS + packaged-media) X / Twitter (HLS with separate video and audio renditions) Any site that uses a plain HTML5 <video> element Sites with HLS streams (CMAF byterange or MPEG-TS) WHERE YOU CAN PASTE Any web app that accepts a pasted file — including most messaging, chat, and social media platforms. HOW IT WORKS The extension watches for HLS or MP4 streams the page is already loading, refetches them, and (if the site serves video and audio as separate streams) merges them in-memory using ffmpeg.wasm — entirely in your browser. Then it synthesizes a paste event with the resulting MP4, which your chat app sees exactly like a normal file paste. PRIVACY Nothing is written to your disk. Everything stays in browser memory. No analytics. No telemetry. No remote servers. The only network requests are to the same CDN your browser was already loading the video from. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO It does not break DRM (so it won't work on Netflix, Spotify, etc.). It does not save files to your computer — by design, this extension exists specifically to skip the download-then-upload dance. OPEN SOURCE Source code, bug reports, and contributions: github.com/Eshan276/copyvideoextension Licensed under MIT. Bundles ffmpeg.wasm (LGPL-2.1) and mp4box.js (BSD-3-Clause).
