MarkVault is a free web highlighter that permanently saves your highlighted text across every website you visit.
Select any text on any webpage. Choose from four color-coded categories: Research (yellow), Important (red), Note (green), and Quote (blue). Your highlights survive page reloads, browser restarts, and cache clears.

CORE FEATURES

Cross-Site Library. Every highlight from every website is stored in one unified library inside the extension. Open the popup and see all your saved highlights across all sites in one scrollable list.
4-Color Highlight System. Color-code highlights by purpose. Research passages in yellow, mark critical information in red, add notes in green, save quotes in blue. Scan your highlights by type at a glance.
Real-Time Search. Type in the library search bar and instantly filter through all your highlights across all saved websites. No lag, no reload.
Persistent Storage. Highlights save to Chrome's local storage. Hard refreshes, cache clears, and tab closures do not erase them. Come back the next day and your highlights are exactly where you left them.

Inline Notes. Click any highlight to attach a personal note to it. Your annotation stays linked to the text.
One-Click Markdown Export. Export all highlights from the current page as a clean Markdown file. Compatible with Obsidian, Notion, Roam, Bear, and any notes app that reads Markdown.
Zero Accounts Required. No sign-up. No login. No cloud sync. Your data stays local, private, and entirely in your control.
