A Chrome Extension that instantly estimates how much mobile data a video will consume — right from your browser toolbar. 

Video Data Usage Calculator** scans the active browser tab for any playing `<video>` element and provides an instant, real-time estimate of its data consumption — broken down by resolution, codec, bitrate, and duration.

Whether you're on a limited mobile data plan, managing bandwidth for multiple users, or just curious how much a 4K Netflix binge actually costs in gigabytes — this extension gives you a clean, instant answer without leaving the page.

🧭 How to Use

1. Navigate to **any webpage** that has a video (YouTube, Vimeo, news sites, etc.)
2. **Start playing** the video — metadata must be loaded
3. Click the **Video Data Usage Calculator** icon in the Chrome toolbar
4. The popup displays:
   - **Resolution, Duration, Codec, Estimated Bitrate** in stat cards
   - Total estimated **data usage** in MB or GB with an animated bar
   - A **data equivalent** for context
5. Click **"Compare Quality Tiers"** to expand a full breakdown across all quality levels
6. Click the **☀️ / 🌙** button to toggle between dark and light themes
7. Use the **🌐 language dropdown** to switch language instantly — auto-detected from your browser
8. Set a **data alert threshold** in the bottom bar — get notified if any video exceeds it

🟢 Green = lower quality saves data

Set a custom MB threshold in the alert bar at the bottom. When any video exceeds your limit:
• An amber warning banner appears inside the popup with the exact overage
