# LibreShot – Screenshot & Tab Recorder

LibreShot is a fast, privacy-focused Chrome extension for capturing screenshots and recording browser tabs. Whether you're documenting a bug, creating a tutorial, saving a webpage, or sharing information with colleagues, LibreShot provides the tools you need in a simple, lightweight interface.

Everything is processed locally on your device. Your screenshots, recordings, and settings never leave your computer.

## Capture the way you want

LibreShot offers several capture modes to suit different tasks.

**Visible Tab** captures everything currently visible in your browser window.

**Selected Area** lets you drag and capture only the part of the page you need.

**Full Page** automatically scrolls and stitches long webpages into a single image.

**Element Capture** allows you to capture an individual page element, such as a table, image, button, or card.

You can also **record the active browser tab**, including video and audio, making LibreShot useful for demonstrations, tutorials, presentations, and bug reporting.

## Built-in annotation editor

After capturing an image, you can open it in the integrated editor to make quick edits without installing additional software.

Available tools include:

## Flexible output options

• Save captures to your Downloads folder

• Copy and save at the same time

Supported image formats include WebP, PNG, and JPEG. WebP is the default format because it provides excellent image quality while producing smaller files.

Recorded videos are saved locally as WebM files using efficient VP9 encoding.

## Customize your captures

LibreShot includes several optional enhancements.

You can enable an iOS-style frame with rounded corners and shadow, automatically trim large blank areas from screenshots, and add an optional timestamp or name watermark.

All of these features can be turned on or off from the extension settings.
