Linear Suggest for Timely

Stop tab-switching to find Linear issue identifiers while logging time in Timely.

 Linear Suggest for Timely adds an inline autocomplete dropdown to Timely's time-entry note field. Start typing an issue identifier (e.g. ENG-1234), a bare issue number as a shorthand (1234), or any word from an issue title — the extension queries your
 Linear team and shows up to 10 matching issues. Pick one and your note is filled in as "<identifier>: <title> ", ready to keep typing.


 WHAT IT DOES

 - Detects Timely's time-entry note field on app.timelyapp.com automatically; no per-entry activation needed.
 - Triggers on three patterns: <team>-<digits> for direct identifier lookup, bare digits as a shorthand if you don't want to type the team prefix, or any other word for a containsIgnoreCase title search.
 - Shows each suggestion with its workflow state (name + Linear's actual state color) and project, sorted by most recently updated.
 - Highlights the part of the identifier or title that matches your query in bold, so you can see at a glance which row is the closest match.
 - Keyboard navigation: arrow keys to move, Enter to insert, Esc to dismiss.
 - Selecting an issue replaces what you typed with "<identifier>: <title> ", so you can keep adding context after it.


 SETUP (one-time, about a minute)

 1. Open the extension popup from your toolbar.
 2. Create a read-only personal API key in Linear at linear.app/settings/account/security.
 3. Paste the key into the popup and click Save. The extension calls Linear once to validate the key and then stores your team's identifier automatically — no manual team configuration needed.


 PRIVACY & SECURITY

 - Your Linear API key never leaves your device. It's kept in the browser's extension-local storage and used only to call Linear's GraphQL API directly from the extension.
 - No telemetry, no analytics, no third-party servers, no tracking of any kind.
 - The extension only runs on app.timelyapp.com and only reads/writes the time-entry note textarea.
 - Network traffic: only api.linear.app, and only when you actively trigger a suggestion.
 - Treat the API key like a password: revoke it any time on the same Linear settings page if you suspect it's been exposed. A "Clear" button in the popup also removes the locally stored copy.


 REQUIREMENTS

 - A Linear workspace where your personal API key has access to exactly one team. (Multi-team accounts aren't supported yet — the extension validates this on save and refuses to store a key with access to more than one team.)
 - A Timely account on app.timelyapp.com.
