About

Most AEO tools dump a score and disappear. This one teaches you why.

**alexturik AEO Checker** is a one-click audit of whether AI crawlers can reach, parse, and cite your page. Every failed check links to a focused deep-dive on alexturik.com explaining the exact fix.

### What it checks (weighted to 100)

- **robots.txt — AI crawler access (25%)**. Distinguishes real-time AI search crawlers from model-training crawlers and scores them differently. Blocking real-time crawlers makes your site invisible in AI search right now; blocking training crawlers is a defensible content-protection choice. Most tools score them the same.
- **JS Renderability (20%)**. Does your content survive without JavaScript? Many AI crawlers do not execute JS, so client-side-only rendering can leave them with empty pages.
- **JSON-LD structured data (20%)**. Detects whether the page exposes valid Schema.org markup that AI agents use to understand your content.
- **Heading hierarchy and landmarks (10%)**. Exactly one h1, no skipped levels, and a clear main-content landmark.
- **Metadata bundle (10%)**. Title length, meta description length, social preview tags, canonical link, and html lang.
- **meta robots (5%)**. Detects directives that shut crawlers out at the page level.
- **datePublished and author (5%)**. Recency and authority signals for AI agents.
- **/llms.txt presence (5%)**. The emerging standard for an AI-readable site index.

### What is different about this audit

- **RAG-aware scoring.** Real-time bots and training bots are scored separately. Status-specific messages explain why a warn is not a fail and what each one means for your site.
- **Transparent.** Every check exposes the rule, the observation, and the deep-dive — never just a number with no path forward.
- **Authored.** Each failed check links to a 500–800 word post on alexturik.com written for that exact failure. Not a marketing landing page. Not a paywall.

### Privacy

No data collected. The audit runs entirely in your browser. No telemetry, no account, no upsell. The only metric tracked is install count via the Chrome Web Store dashboard.

### Permissions

- `activeTab` — read the current tab when you click the icon.
- `scripting` — inject the audit script into the active page.

No `host_permissions`. No `<all_urls>`. No background fetching of other sites.

### Roadmap (no dates)

- Wider AI crawler coverage, entity-authority checks, and deeper validation of llms.txt files.
- Generators for structured data and llms.txt — closing the gap every read-only audit tool leaves open.
