Word Counter helps you measure text instantly — while you write, edit, or browse. Count words, characters, sentences, and paragraphs with a clean, privacy-first Chrome extension.

LIVE SELECTION COUNTER
Highlight any text on a webpage and see a compact stats panel appear in real time. Words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, and reading/speaking time update as you select. Turn this on or off anytime in Settings.

WORKSPACE
Open the popup for a full writing workspace:
• See active page selection or paste/type your own text
• View all key metrics in one dashboard
• Top keywords analysis
• Copy stats to clipboard with one click

PLATFORM LIMITS
Check your text against common character limits, sorted tightest first:
• X / Twitter (280 — free tier)
• Threads, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook
• SMS, meta descriptions, and a custom limit you set

QUICK ACTIONS
• Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+W (Cmd+Shift+W on Mac)
• Right-click menu: "Count Selected Words"
• Customizable reading and speaking speed (WPM)

PRIVACY FIRST
All counting happens locally in your browser. Your text is never stored, synced, or sent to any server. No ads. No tracking. No account required.
