About

Stop signing contracts you only half understand.

ClauseCheck scans freelance agreements in seconds and highlights clauses that often cost money, creative control, or pipeline — explained in plain English, not legalese.

WHAT IT CATCHES

High risk
• Unlimited liability / broad indemnity — you on the hook for damages far beyond the job value
• IP assignment that sweeps in pre-existing work, tools, or code
• One-sided termination — client can walk; you cannot
• Non-compete / non-solicit language that can wall off your market
• Weak or missing kill fees — you eat blocked calendar time

Medium risk
• Auto-renewal without a fair notice window
• Scope creep language (“reasonable changes”, “as needed”) without change-order protection
• NET 60+ payment terms with no late-interest guardrail
• Murky milestones that let payment stall
• Exclusivity that starves your pipeline

Lower risk (still flagged)
• One-sided confidentiality
• Inconvenient governing law / venue
• Arbitration with one-sided cost allocation
• Moral-rights waivers (relevant for design / creative work)
• One-sided warranty disclaimers

HOW IT WORKS

1. Select contract text — Gmail, Google Docs, or pasted text in the side panel (PDF/DOCX: parsed in your browser; only extracted text is sent to our API).
2. Right-click → “Scan with ClauseCheck”, or open the side panel from the extension icon.
3. Read a severity-grouped report (High / Medium / Low) in the side panel.
4. Copy suggested counter-language for a clause in one click.

ROLE-AWARE SCORING

Pick designer, developer, writer, consultant, or generic — scores reflect what matters for that role (for example, IP assignment weighs differently for portfolio-driven work vs. pre-existing code).

KILL-FEE FAIRNESS

Tell ClauseCheck your rate and project context; it highlights whether a kill-fee clause looks fair and what to push for instead.

PRICING

• Free: 5 scans per month, full clause flagging
• Pro: $3.99/mo or $29/yr — unlimited scans, redlines, benchmarks
• Lifetime: $39 one-time — Pro features, limited slots (see site for availability)

Optional paid plans are purchased on clause-check.app (Stripe), not inside the Chrome billing UI.

PRIVACY

Contract text is sent over HTTPS to our servers for analysis. We do not train models on your text. We do not sell your personal data. We do not keep your contract body in our database after the scan completes, except an optional short debug window you can disable in Account settings — see clause-check.app/privacy for details. PDF/DOCX files are parsed locally; file bytes are not uploaded.

NOT LEGAL ADVICE

ClauseCheck highlights common freelancer-unfriendly patterns. It is not a lawyer. For high-stakes deals, talk to a licensed attorney.
