ZonTab replaces your default New Tab with a clean, useful dashboard - and quietly frees up RAM in the background by hibernating tabs you're not using.

What makes ZonTab different:
         Most New Tab extensions are either beautiful but useless (Momentum) or powerful but expensive (Workona). ZonTab gives you both, for free, with zero telemetry and all data stored locally in your browser.

TAB HIBERNATION
        Chrome uses 80–150 MB of RAM per open tab. With 20 tabs open, that's 2–3 GB gone before you've done any work.

ZonTab automatically discards idle tabs after a configurable time (default 15 minutes). The tabs stay visible in your tab bar — clicking them reloads instantly. A live RAM saved counter on your dashboard shows how much memory has been recovered.

WORKSPACE MANAGEMENT
          Save your current window's tabs as a named workspace with one click. Restore them anytime — in a new window or alongside your existing tabs. Useful for switching between projects, research sessions, and work contexts without losing anything.

No cloud. No sync. All workspace data stays in your browser.

SMART WEBSITE DARK MODE

Toggle dark mode across all websites from the New Tab dashboard or popup. ZonTab uses a CSS filter approach that works on 95%+ of sites.

Smart detection automatically skips websites that already have a dark background — so GitHub dark, Claude, VS Code for the Web, and similar apps are left untouched while light sites are converted.

DARK & LIGHT THEME
      ZonTab's own interface supports a Dark Navy theme and a Light theme. Toggle from the New Tab topbar or Settings page. Both pages sync instantly — no reload required.

PRIVACY FIRST

ZonTab makes zero network requests. There is no backend, no account, no analytics, and no telemetry. All settings, notes, tasks, and workspaces are stored in chrome.storage.local on your device.
