About
InstaCrypt: Private Client-Side Messaging Take control of your privacy with end-to-end encryption for Instagram DMs. Meta has discontinued default end-to-end encryption for Instagram, meaning your messages are stored in a readable format on their servers. InstaCrypt returns that power to you. It treats Instagram as a simple delivery pipe, ensuring that only you and your recipient hold the keys to your conversation. How it Works: InstaCrypt uses industry-standard AES-256 encryption to scramble your messages before they ever leave your browser. To Instagram’s servers, your message looks like a string of "gibberish." To your friend with the shared passcode, it’s a private conversation. Key Features: Zero-Knowledge Encryption: Your "Shared Passcode" is never sent to Instagram. Encryption and decryption happen entirely on your local device. Seamless UI Integration: A floating "Lock" icon sits right next to your message box. Type, click, and send. On-the-Fly Passcodes: Use the built-in passcode field to set unique keys for different friends. Right-click the lock to show or hide the password input. One-Click Decryption: Received an encrypted message? Click the "[Decrypt]" link that appears inside the chat bubble to reveal the original text instantly. Lightweight & Stealthy: Built to work with Instagram’s dynamic interface without slowing down your browsing experience. Instructions: 1. Open an Instagram DM. 2. Enter a secret passcode in the InstaCrypt field (Right-click the 🔒 icon to show the input). 3. Type your message and click the 🔒 icon. 4. Press Enter or click "Send." 5. Share your passcode with your friend via a secure secondary channel so they can decrypt your messages! It's my side project I just had the idea to test that encryption works or not in the future maybe we can leverage this and implement in any app.
