About

Album Helper is a personal productivity tool for people who browse photo albums in the Facebook groups they're members of. As groups grow, many users end up looking at hundreds or even thousands of albums — and finding a specific one by scrolling through the list becomes impractical.

This extension adds a clean sidebar to album listing pages, letting you build a local searchable index of the albums you can already see. Once the index is built, you can type a few letters of an album's title and jump straight to it, instead of scrolling forever.

═══ HOW IT WORKS ═══

The extension is user-driven, not automated:

1. Open a Facebook group's album listing page
2. Click the sidebar icon and choose "Prepare page"
3. Scroll through the album list yourself at your own pace
4. The sidebar records album titles and links as they come into view
5. Click Done when you've finished — your index is saved locally

From then on, typing in the search box instantly filters your album list. Click any result to jump straight to that album.

- Keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+F) to toggle the sidebar
- All data stored locally — nothing is ever sent to any external server

Album Helper does not collect any personal information. Your album indexes and preferences are stored in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. There is no tracking, no telemetry, and no analytics.

═══ PERMISSIONS ═══

The extension requests a small number of permissions, each with a specific purpose:

- Storage — to save your local album index and preferences
- Downloads — to save individual images from albums you already have access to
- Web navigation — to update the sidebar when you navigate between pages within Facebook
- Active tab — to interact with the current tab when you click the extension icon
- Host access to facebook.com and fbcdn.net — the extension only runs on these domains
