Important note: Stud size means the fastener diameter. Hole size means the terminal tongue opening. Always confirm the final hole size against the product drawing and assembly tolerance.

Use the Type tab to search terminal family names or model codes.

### 5. Right-Click Text Parsing

You can select terminal-related text on a webpage and send it to the extension.

How to use:

1. Highlight text on any webpage.
2. Right-click the selected text.
3. Choose `Calculate with Electri Terminal`.
4. The extension will parse recognized wire, stud, terminal, or insulation values.

Example selected text:

`M6 ring terminal for 10 AWG cable`

Possible results:

- AWG 10 wire reference
- M6 / 1/4" stud reference
- Ring terminal type reference

The extension only processes text that you actively select.

### 6. One-Click Copy

Each result card includes a Copy button. Use it to copy a clean engineering reference sentence for emails, RFQs, BOM notes, or internal comments.

## How To Install From The Chrome Web Store

After the extension is published on the Chrome Web Store:

1. Open the Electri Terminal Calculator listing in the Chrome Web Store.
2. Click `Add to Chrome`.
3. Review the permission prompt.
4. Click `Add extension`.
5. After installation, click the puzzle icon in the Chrome toolbar.
6. Find `Electri Terminal Calculator`.
7. Click the pin icon if you want the extension to stay visible in the toolbar.
8. Click the extension icon to open the calculator.

## How To Install For Local Testing

Use these steps only if you are testing the unpacked extension before Chrome Web Store publication.

1. Open Chrome.

## How To Use The Extension

### Step 1: Open The Extension

Click the Electri Terminal Calculator icon in the Chrome toolbar. The popup opens with four tabs:

- Wire
- Stud
- Type
- Insulation

### Step 2: Choose A Mode

Choose the tab that matches your task:

- Use Wire for AWG, mm2, color code, and current reference.
- Use Stud for screw, bolt, stud, and hole size reference.
- Use Type for terminal family and code lookup.
- Use Insulation for insulation material and crimp structure lookup.

### Step 3: Enter A Value

Type a value into the input field. You can also click one of the example chips shown under the input.

### Step 4: Review The Result

### Step 6: Confirm Final Selection

Use the extension as a reference tool. Final selection should always be confirmed against:

## Supported Reference Tables

### Wire Range Reference

The Wire calculator uses stable selection-guide intervals up to 60.57 mm2. Large-conductor tail ranges above the stable table are not treated as final automatic matches.

If a value is outside the bundled stable range, the extension displays an out-of-range notice and recommends checking the product specification sheet.

### Stud and Hole Reference

The Stud calculator uses a lookup table for common stud and terminal hole sizes. It prioritizes the bundled reference table over pure formula conversion because terminal hole sizes include practical clearance.

### Terminal Type Reference

The Type lookup provides quick access to common terminal families and model codes such as:

- Ring Terminals / R
- Spade Terminals / S
- Hook Terminals / H
- Blade Terminals / DB
- Pin Terminals / PT

### Insulation Reference

The Insulation lookup includes common insulation and crimp structures such as:

- NB: Non-Insulated with Brazed Seam
- NYD: Nylon Insulated - Double Crimp

## Permissions Explained

Electri Terminal Calculator uses a small set of Chrome extension permissions.

### activeTab

Used only when the user actively interacts with the extension or selected text. The extension does not continuously read browser tabs.

### contextMenus

Used to add the right-click menu item:

`Calculate with Electri Terminal`

This lets users send selected webpage text to the calculator.

### storage

Used to remember local extension state, such as the most recent query, selected mode, or pending selected text from the context menu.

### clipboardWrite

Used for the Copy button so users can copy calculation results.

## Privacy

Electri Terminal Calculator is designed as a local reference tool.

- It does not require account login.
- It does not upload user input to a server.
- It does not collect browsing history.
- It does not read entire webpages by default.

## Troubleshooting

### The extension icon is not visible

1. Click the puzzle icon in the Chrome toolbar.
2. Find `Electri Terminal Calculator`.
3. Click the pin icon.

### The popup does not show a result

Try a clearer input format:

- Use `AWG 10` instead of only `10` if you mean AWG.
- Use `8 mm2` if you mean metric wire size.
- Use `M6`, `#10`, or `10.5 mm hole` for stud and hole lookup.
- Use `NYD`, `ring`, or `FD` for type and insulation lookup.

### More than one result appears

Some references overlap by design. For example, a boundary wire-size value may match more than one range. Review the result notes and confirm final selection against the product specification sheet.

### Right-click parsing does not show the expected result

Make sure the selected text includes a recognizable value, such as:

- `AWG 10`
- `10 AWG`
- `M6`
- `#10`
- `ring terminal`
- `NYD`

If the text is complex, open the extension and enter the value directly.

### The Copy button does not work

Check that Chrome has allowed the extension to write to the clipboard. If needed, reload the extension or restart Chrome.

### Does it work offline?

### Can I use only wire size to choose a terminal?

No. Wire size is only one factor. You should also confirm terminal form, insulation type, stud or hole size, current rating, crimp tooling, and final product specifications.

### What is the difference between stud size and hole size?

Stud size is the fastener diameter. Hole size is the opening on the terminal tongue. The hole is usually slightly larger than the stud to allow assembly clearance.

### Why are some large conductor sizes not matched automatically?

The bundled stable wire range table is limited to the reviewed selection-guide intervals. Large-conductor tail ranges should be confirmed manually against the product specification sheet.

### Does the extension collect my selected text?

No. The extension processes selected text locally when the user chooses the right-click action. It does not upload the selected text to a server.
