CrossOver Compatibility for Steam is a Chrome extension designed for macOS gamers who use CrossOver to run Windows games. When browsing the Steam store, this extension automatically displays compatibility information from the CodeWeavers CrossOver compatibility database directly on game pages.

The extension works seamlessly in the background. When you visit a Steam game page, it automatically extracts the game name and queries the CrossOver compatibility database. It then displays a clean, Steam-themed widget showing the macOS compatibility rating and status. The widget also lists recent CrossOver version ratings (up to 3), helping users understand which CrossOver versions work best with specific games.

Built with Chrome's Manifest V3, the extension uses a content script to inject the compatibility widget into Steam pages and a background service worker to handle API calls securely. This architecture ensures minimal performance impact while providing valuable information that helps macOS users make informed purchasing decisions about Windows-only games on Steam.
