Connecting an AI to your computer sounds powerful, and it is. That's why mcp-link is built on a foundation of absolute user control and transparency. The AI can NEVER act without your consent.

You have three layers of control for EVERY tool:


🧩 TOOL VISIBILITY: You decide which tools the AI even knows exist. In the extension's menu, you can enable or disable tools with a single click. If a tool is disabled, it's invisible to the AI.

✅ ACTION APPROVAL: For any enabled tool, you set the rules.

Ask Every Time (Default): A popup will ask for your confirmation before any action is taken.
Allow Automatically: For trusted tools you use often, you can choose to skip the confirmation prompt.
Always Allow (YOLO Mode): For read-only tools or those running in a secure sandbox (like Docker), you can grant permission for hands-free operation.
🔎 TOTAL TRANSPARENCY: Every time a tool is used, a clear summary appears in your chat, showing exactly what the AI requested and what the tool returned. No secret operations. No hidden data.


⚠️ A Note on Agentic AI: AI agents can make mistakes. You are the ultimate operator and assume all responsibility for the actions you approve. We strongly recommend regular data backups and using sandboxed environments like Docker for powerful tools.


⚙️ How It Works (It's Simple!)
Install the Extension: Add mcp-link to your browser, and connect it to an MCP server.
Visit Your Favorite AI: Go to ChatGPT, Claude, etc. The extension automatically activates.
Make a Request: Ask the AI to do something that requires a tool, like "What's the weather like in London right now?"
Approve the Action: A prompt will appear asking for your permission to use the "Weather" tool. Click allow.
Get Results: The AI receives the information and continues the conversation, now with real-world data!
The extension works instantly with any existing SSE MCP server you give it. For ultimate power, you can install the optional (and free) mcp-server on your computer to unlock local file access, system commands, and more.
