Changelog
- May 29, 2026description
Detect and profile fonts on any website to reveal their properties and metadata. Typical reads what is actually rendered on the page, not just what CSS declares, and reveals the true font identity directly from the binary itself. It is useful for designers auditing typography, developers debugging font stacks, and anyone curious about the type they are reading. Hover inspector: Hover any text and Typical displays a tooltip showing the resolved font name, weight, style, size, line height, letter spacing, and color. It works across web fonts, system fonts, CSS hover content, dropdowns, modals, shadow DOM, same origin iframes, and text rendered via JavaScript FontFace. Font card: A draggable panel lists every unique font detected on the page, grouped by weight and style, with live samples, usage counts, and font classification such as serif, sans serif, monospace, display, or handwriting. Hovering any row highlights every element using that font variant, making it easy to see where each typeface appears. Detail panel: Press M while hovering text, or click a row in the font card, to open a detailed view. For web fonts, Typical fetches and parses the font file to surface canonical metadata including font name, designer, foundry, license or usage restrictions, variable axes, glyph count, character set, and OpenType features. The same view also works with fonts behind strict CORS policies using an on page fallback fetch. Privacy: Typical runs entirely locally. No analytics, no accounts, no servers. Nothing about the pages you visit ever leaves your browser. Full policy at https://typicalhq.vercel.app/privacy Maker: Ebuka Ezeh ( https://ebuka.ezeh.me )
