About

Aegis Auth is a premium, high-performance, and secure browser extension designed to generate and organize time-based two-factor authentication (2FA/TOTP) codes. Styled with a dense, modern glassmorphic interface, Aegis Auth is optimized for both popup and side panel use.

FEATURES
• Dual Unlock Protection — Secure your vault using device-level hardware biometrics (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello) via WebAuthn Passkeys, or configure a fallback-free 4-digit PIN.
• Offline-First Cryptography — All operations occur strictly on your machine. Your credentials are encrypted locally using AES-GCM-256 and are never sent to external servers.
• Live Camera Scanning — Scan 2FA setup QR codes in real-time using your webcam. Permission requests are routed through a secure, temporary helper tab.
• Context Menu Scanning — Setup accounts instantly by right-clicking any QR code image on a website.
• Screen Area Capture — Draw a selection box directly on any webpage to scan and import QR codes displayed in the browser.
• Secure Merging — Merge accounts from external backups (PIN or Passkey secured) directly into your active vault without losing data or resetting master keys.
• Bulk Image Import — Drag-and-drop or select multiple QR code images to batch-import credentials simultaneously.
• Protobuf Migration Decoder — Import Google Authenticator credentials in a single scan via local otpauth-migration URL parsing.
• TOTP Generator & Exporter — Render and download standard QR codes for your saved credentials inside the edit dashboard.
• Copy & Paste Shortcuts — Autocompletes 2FA codes directly into active web fields on press of the Enter key inside the search bar, or copies to the clipboard.

HOW TO USE
1. Click the Aegis Auth icon in your extensions toolbar to open the popup, or open it in the side panel for permanent access.
2. Configure your master key by registering a secure Passkey or setting up a 4-digit PIN.
3. Click the '+' button to add an account. Choose to scan a QR code (webcam, screen area capture, or file upload) or enter details manually.
4. Search or select your credential card from the list to copy the active 2FA code.

PRIVACY
Your security is our priority. Aegis Auth does not collect, track, or share any personal information. All credentials, database files, and security keys reside exclusively on your local device.
