About

PageShield automatically scans webpages for invisible elements designed to trick users—such as transparent windows or overlapping buttons used in clickjacking, click-fraud and phishing attacks.

Hidden windows and buttons on the page are exposed by highlighting them in red. The visible button that was meant to trick you will be highlighted in purple.

After suspicious elements are found, they are scanned by AI. You can set the sensitivity level yourself - very strict sensitivity will flag any suspicious elements, and show you a popup. The popup will show you the element in detail, and you can run another AI scan on it to explain what the element really is. You can then block the element or to whitelist any elements so that they are not flagged again.

Additionally, PageShield uses a blacklist to block known advertising domains.

Whether you're reading articles, managing accounts, or shopping online, PageShield ensures that what you see is what you click—and nothing malicious is lurking beneath the surface. Better than traditional anti-virus software. No accounts. No ads. Just protection.

What It Does:
✅ Uses AI to scan suspicious page elements:
Every page you visit has any potentially suspicious elements scanned by AI. These include hidden buttons, invisible windows and intentionally transparent elements.

✅ Detects Suspicious iframes:
Flags iframes that are hidden, offscreen, transparent, or stacked on top of legitimate buttons—common signs of deceptive behavior or hidden trackers.

✅ Finds Overlapping Buttons:
Catches cases where one button is placed invisibly on top of another to hijack user actions, such as unwanted subscriptions, login redirections, surprise charges, and social shares.

✅ AI-Powered Threat Analysis:
Not sure if the flagged content is truly dangerous? Click the "AI Scan" button to get a concise advice in seconds.

✅ Smart Whitelisting:
Did the scan accidentally flag an element with the popup? Click “False Alarm” and that source will be safely remembered and excluded from future warnings—across browsing sessions. The whitelist is stored in your browser and nobody can see it, not even PageShield.

✅ Badge Alerts:
The extension icon in your toolbar updates in real-time, showing either: "⚠️ Warning detected"; or "✅ Page looks clean"

Why You Should Install It:
1. Protects against deceptive tactics which traditional antiviruses miss. Anti-viruses typically work with whitelists or blacklists; PageShield is dynamic.

2. Preemptive AI Scanning. Basic automatic AI checks give you an early signal on page safety—even before interacting with elements.

3. No Setup Required. Works instantly after install—just browse as usual.

4. Privacy-Respecting. All detection runs locally. AI checks are anonymized, only scan flagged suspicious elements, and no personal data is collected or stored. PageShield only counts the number of extension installs.

PageShield does not track you or harvest any personal data as you use the application. PageShield does not have a database with any user information. AI scans only include the flagged suspicious content, not the full page contents, so your privacy is respected.

If you’ve ever clicked a button and wondered what really happened — PageShield is for you. It shines a light on hidden threats, helps you understand what’s risky, and puts control back in your hands. It highlights the suspicious hidden elements in red so that you see what is really going on.

Real-Life Scenarios Where PageShield Protects You:
🛍️ Shopping on a Furniture Site
You're browsing a home décor website looking for a new couch. You click “Add to Cart,” but PageShield detects a hidden subscription form layered underneath. Without it, you'd have unknowingly signed up for promotional emails or worse—agreed to hidden terms.

📰 Reading News on an Aggregator Site
You’re scrolling a trending news article. PageShield spots a transparent iframe from a domain known for aggressive tracking, hidden over the “Next” button. It’s collecting scroll behavior and click patterns invisibly.

🏦 Banking or Checking Finances
While reviewing transactions on your bank’s site, a seemingly legitimate alert button has an invisible overlay that would redirect you to a phishing form asking for your credentials. PageShield stops it cold.

🕹️ Playing Web-Based Games
A game asks for your location and starts loading iframes from third-party ad providers. PageShield sees that one iframe is fully transparent and positioned directly over the “Start Game” button — a classic clickjacking move.

📧 Checking Email on a Public Wi-Fi
Using webmail at a café, PageShield flags a hidden iframe injected via a compromised ad script — one trying to perform cross-site scripting (XSS). Without you clicking anything.
