About

Live Caption Translate transcribes the audio playing in any browser tab in
  real time, translates it into the language you choose, and shows it as a
  caption overlay right on the page.

  Lectures, meetings, podcasts, foreign-language videos — add live captions
  and translation to content that has none.

  ■ Speech-to-text — choose one of three
  - Deepgram: real-time cloud streaming, lowest latency
  - In-browser Whisper: runs inside the extension, free, no server or key
  - Local Whisper server: free, processed by a server you run yourself

  ■ Translation — choose one of two
  - OpenAI API
  - A local LLM (Ollama, LM Studio, or any OpenAI-compatible server)

  ■ Your keys, your data (BYOK)
  - API keys are stored only in your browser and sent solely to the provider
    they belong to
  - With in-browser Whisper + a local LLM, everything runs locally and free,
    with nothing sent to the cloud

  ■ How to use
  1. Pick your speech-to-text and translation options on the settings page
  2. On a tab with audio, click the extension icon and press "Start captions"
  3. The original and translated captions appear at the bottom of the page

  Note: Browser-internal pages (chrome://, the extension store, etc.) cannot
  be captured.
