About

Dopamine Toll puts a price on distraction. When you open a site on your block list like X, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts a full-screen gate covers the page before it loads and a countdown begins. While it runs, you see a photo of a goal you set (your "north star") and a reminder you wrote to yourself. Only when the countdown ends can you decide: close the tab and stay productive, or open the site anyway for a time limit you choose. When that window ends, the toll returns. It is friction, not a hard block, the choice stays yours, but you have to slow down and make it on purpose.

Features:
• Your block list — add any site, or just one section of it (for example, youtube.com/shorts gates Shorts but leaves the rest of YouTube open). Subdomains are included automatically.
• North star photos — upload up to 8 images of what you are working toward; one appears at random on each gate.
• Personal reminders — write your own phrases; one shows with the photo each time.
• Adjustable friction — set the countdown (10 to 120 seconds) and how long a paid unlock lasts (1 to 30 minutes).
• Honest by design — the countdown pauses when you switch tabs or apps, so you cannot wait it out in the background.
• Per-tab unlocks — an unlock applies only to that tab and resets when you close the browser.
• Works on modern sites — catches in-app navigation on single-page apps like X, Reddit, and Instagram, not just full page loads.
• Daily tally — see how often you walked away versus paid, and pick from four color themes.

Privacy: Dopamine Toll runs entirely on your device. It makes no network requests and has no accounts, ads, analytics, or trackers. Your settings, photos, and stats stay in your browser; settings sync only through your own Chrome account if you have sync enabled.
