About
The Cyera Privacy Inspector helps you verify your website's compliance with CPRA, GDPR, and other global privacy frameworks. The Privacy Inspector detects trackers, inspects cookies, and diagnoses consent management configurations - all from a single interface. When you visit a website, the extension scans for scripts that match known trackers which may sell or share your information without your consent. It also lets you send the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, acting as a universal opt-out from tracking. Consent preferences are typically provided through a Consent Management Platform (CMP) — the banner that asks whether you accept "All" or "Only essential" cookies. If you limit consent to essentials, non-essential services like marketing pixels should not load. This extension can help verify your installation of any CMP, but there are specific features designed in concert with Cyera Consent. 🚀 Features 🆕 ▶️ Multi-Tab Inspector The extension organizes debugging tools across five tabs: Status — View your Cyera Consent configuration at a glance: container ID, detected location, layout type, and consent category states. Toggle individual consent categories on or off directly, or open the Cyera Consent banner layout available on the page. Integrations — See detection results for key integrations including Google Consent Mode, Google Tag Manager, Shopify, WordPress, and Webflow. Each integration shows its configuration and current status in collapsible sections. Trackers — Scans the page for scripts matching a known tracker list and displays results filtered by type. If you've opted out of tracking, this list should show significantly fewer entries — mostly essential services. Cookies — Lists first-party cookies set on the current page (including parent domain cookies), matches them against consent category patterns, and shows whether each cookie is managed or unmanaged by Cyera Consent. ▶️ Global Privacy Control (GPC) Signal The Global Privacy Control signal notifies websites of your privacy preferences at the browser level. When enabled, it acts as an opt-out from tracking on every page you visit. California law (CPRA) requires businesses to respect this signal. Toggle GPC on or off from the Settings tab. If you use Cyera Consent, you can adjust how the GPC is interpreted by geolocation. You can then confirm that the scripts and cookies visible in the extension align with these settings. ▶️ Trace Tracker Code Trackers loaded via script tags include an action that reveals where the script is embedded in the page HTML. This helps trace how tracking code was added — whether hardcoded in the source or injected by another script. ▶️ Diagnose Consent Mode Implementation The Integrations tab provides a live report of Google Consent Mode states alongside consent category enablement. Debug and troubleshoot your consent mode implementation without leaving the browser. ❓ Troubleshooting This extension is designed for use with Cyera Consent and is supported for existing Consent customers. If tracker results appear incomplete, close and reopen the extension UI to refresh. Some trackers load asynchronously and may take a moment to appear. The extension includes retry logic for detecting integrations that load after the initial page render. Not all detected trackers are necessarily selling or sharing your information. Some are essential to a website functioning — for example, Google Tag Manager manages how scripts load and helps developers maintain compliance with consent preferences. 💼 Not a Cyera Customer?
