About

Sidekick is a lightweight collection of small quality-of-life fixes for Google Search and everyday browsing. Every feature is an individual checkbox in one popup, with a master on/off switch at the top. No accounts, no servers, no tracking — everything runs locally on your device.

— FEATURES —

• Google Maps link
Re-adds a "Maps" tab to the Google Search results bar (right after "All") that opens your current search straight in Google Maps. Restores the convenient Maps shortcut removed from Search in Europe under the Digital Markets Act.

• Image size dropdown
Adds the image-size filters Google buried — "Any size", "Larger than 2–70 MP", and Large / Medium / Icon — directly to the Google Images toolbar.

• Popup / tab-hijack blocker
Stops shady sites from opening pop-under ad tabs when you click. Your own deliberate new tabs (Ctrl-click, middle-click, normal links) keep working.

• View image button
Direct full-resolution link on Google Images (legacy layout).

• Clean links
Strips Google redirect hops and utm_/tracking parameters from result links.

• Hide AI Overview
Cosmetically removes the AI answer block from Search.

• Web results only (udm=14)
Plain link results with no AI Overview generated at all.

• Hide sponsored
Removes ad blocks from Search results.

• Force google.com
Redirects country domains to google.com.

— ADVANCED (off by default) —

• Auto-dismiss consent — clicks through Google's cookie wall.
• Strip UTM everywhere — removes utm_/fbclid/gclid tracking from any URL you visit.

— PRIVACY —

Sidekick collects no data, has no analytics, and makes no external requests except to Google for two optional, off-by-default features (Endless scroll fetches the next results page; Reverse image search uploads a thumbnail to Google Lens). Your settings are stored only in Chrome's own settings sync.

Note: features that rely on Google's page layout are best-effort and may occasionally need updates when Google changes its markup. They fail safe and never break the page.
