About

Chrome Web Store Description — Domain Insights for Search
Domain Insights for Search adds two powerful research tools directly inside your Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo search results — helping you instantly judge the trustworthiness, authority, and relevance of every website without ever leaving the search page.

🔍 Feature 1: Domain Age Checker
Ever wondered how old a website is before clicking on it? With Domain Age Checker, you get a real-time age badge shown directly next to every search result — displayed in years, months, and days (e.g., 12y 4m 17d).
Domain age is one of the most reliable trust signals in SEO and content research. Older domains generally carry more authority, have a longer publishing history, and are less likely to be spam or newly registered spammy sites. Now you can see that data at a glance without visiting any external tool.
How it works:
Domain ages are fetched using RDAP — the modern, free, standardized successor to WHOIS. No API key is needed. No account. No subscription. The extension queries the authoritative registry for each domain and extracts the official registration date. To keep things fast and respectful to registry servers, results are cached locally for 7 days, so domains you've already seen load instantly without making a new network request.
If a registry doesn't expose RDAP data or rate-limits lookups (common with some country-code TLDs), the badge gracefully shows age n/a instead of displaying a wrong value.
Simply toggle Domain Age Checker on from the popup, and every result on the page gets annotated automatically.

🎨 Feature 2: Domain Extension Highlighter
Want to filter your search results visually by domain type? The Domain Extension Highlighter lets you define a list of domain extensions (TLDs) you care about — such as .com, .co.uk, .ca, .gov, or any combination — and instantly highlights every matching result with a custom background color of your choice.
This is perfect for:

SEO professionals who want to focus on .com authority sites or local-market domains like .co.uk or .com.au
Researchers who only want results from government (.gov) or academic (.edu) sources
Content strategists who are competitor-hunting and want to quickly spot which results belong to regional domains vs. global ones
Link builders targeting specific ccTLDs for geo-relevant backlink opportunities

How to use it:

Toggle Domain Extension Highlighter on from the popup
Type your extensions in the input box, separated by commas — e.g., .com, .co, .ca, .uk
Pick your highlight color using the color picker or enter a custom hex code
Results matching your extensions are instantly highlighted on the page

Settings are applied in real time — no refresh needed.

⚡ Designed for Speed and Privacy

No account required. No sign-up, no login, no subscription.
No data collection. The extension does not transmit, store, or sell any personal data. Your searches stay entirely private.
No API keys. Domain age lookups use the free, open RDAP protocol directly.
Smart caching. Age results are cached locally for 7 days so repeat lookups are instant. Negative results (unavailable data) are cached for 12 hours to avoid hammering registries.
Sync across devices. Your toggle settings, extension list, and highlight color are saved to chrome.storage.sync, so your preferences follow you across every Chrome device you're signed into.
Works on all three major search engines: Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo.

🛠 Minimal Permissions, Maximum Transparency
The extension requests only what it genuinely needs:

storage — to save your preferences (toggles, extension list, color) across sessions and devices
Host access to Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo — to read result links and annotate them with badges and highlights
Host access to rdap.org and select RDAP registries — to fetch domain registration dates

That's it. No access to your browsing history. No access to any other websites.
