PageLens — Summarize & chat about any web page

PageLens adds a clean side drawer to any web page so you can instantly summarize it and ask follow-up questions — without copy-pasting into another tab. Choose your AI: run a fully local model for free, or bring your own Claude or OpenAI key.

WHAT IT DOES
• Summarize any page in one click — or add an instruction like "3 bullet points" or "focus on the pricing."
• Ask follow-up questions — the conversation keeps the page in context, and answers stream in live as formatted text.
• Works on long pages — relevant sections are retrieved so questions about content deep in the page are answered accurately, not just the top.
• Read responses aloud — a speaker button on each reply uses your system voices, with adjustable voice and speed.
• Copy any response with a single click.
• Resizable, collapsible drawer — drag to resize, collapse to an edge tab; your chat stays per page.

CHOOSE YOUR AI PROVIDER
• Ollama (local, default) — runs on your own machine, no API key, nothing leaves your computer.
• Anthropic Claude — bring your own API key.
• OpenAI (GPT-4o mini) — bring your own API key.
Switch models anytime from the header, even mid-conversation.

PRIVACY FIRST
• API keys are stored only on your device and never synced; they auto-expire after 7 days.
• With Ollama, page text is processed entirely on your machine — it never leaves your computer.
• With a cloud provider, page text is sent only to the provider you choose, using your own key. PageLens has no servers of its own and collects no data.

CUSTOMIZABLE
Adjust the default model, response length, creativity (temperature), and system prompt in settings.

SETUP NOTE (Ollama / local model)
Ollama must allow extension requests, or it returns a 403. Run Ollama with extension origins allowed:
OLLAMA_ORIGINS="chrome-extension://"
On macOS: launchctl setenv OLLAMA_ORIGINS "chrome-extension://" then restart Ollama. Also run: ollama pull gemma3:4b
