About

FreeVault Web Proxy is a Chrome extension that routes your browser traffic through a secure, self-hosted web proxy server. Every website you visit, every link you click, and every page you load is fetched through the proxy — keeping your real IP address hidden from the sites you browse.

HOW IT WORKS
When you enable FreeVault, it intercepts every page navigation in your browser and routes it through a proxy server. The proxy fetches the requested page on your behalf, rewrites all internal links and resources to also pass through the proxy, and delivers the complete page back to your browser. The result is a seamless browsing experience where websites see the proxy server's IP address instead of yours.
This works differently from basic proxy extensions that only change connection settings. FreeVault rewrites the entire page — every link, image, script, and form — so your browsing stays routed through the proxy as you navigate from page to page.

HOW TO USE
Step 1 — Install the extension
Click the install button and add FreeVault to Chrome. The extension icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar.
Step 2 — Open the extension
Click the FreeVault icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the popup panel.
Step 3 — Turn on the proxy
Click the circular power button in the centre of the popup. The extension will test the proxy server connection. Once the connection is confirmed, the button turns green and the status shows "Active".
Step 4 — Browse normally
With the proxy active, simply use Chrome as you normally would. Every URL you navigate to — whether typed in the address bar, clicked from a link, or opened from a bookmark — is automatically routed through the proxy. You do not need to change any browser settings.
Step 5 — Turn off the proxy
Click the power button again at any time to disable the proxy instantly. Your browser will return to direct connections immediately. The status will show "Off".

FEATURES
One-click toggle
Enable or disable the proxy with a single click on the power button. The change takes effect immediately — no restart required.
Automatic connection test
When you enable the proxy, the extension automatically tests the connection to the proxy server before activating. If the server is unreachable, the extension notifies you and does not activate.
Live status display
The popup shows your current connection status, the proxy server being used, and an uptime timer showing how long the proxy has been active.
Quick navigate
Type any URL directly into the "Open URL via Proxy" field in the popup and press Go to open that page through the proxy without navigating first.
Bypass list
Add specific domains to the bypass list to exclude them from the proxy. Domains on the bypass list always connect directly, bypassing the proxy entirely. Useful for banking sites, internal tools, or any site you want to access directly.
Persistent settings
Your on/off state and bypass list are saved automatically. When you restart Chrome, the extension restores your previous settings.
No account required
The extension works immediately after installation with no registration, login, or personal information required.

PERMISSIONS USED
