About

One click → save the ChatGPT Canvas, document, or writing block you are
currently looking at as a local Markdown (.md) file.

WHAT IT DOES
• Detects the currently visible document on the ChatGPT page: an open Canvas
(text or code), an assistant writing block, or your own text selection.
• Converts it to clean Markdown locally — headings, lists, tables, fenced
code blocks with language, blockquotes, links, and LaTeX math are preserved.
• Saves it with a safe filename derived from the document title. Existing
  files are never overwritten.
• Copy-to-clipboard and a local diagnose view are also available.

PRIVACY BY DESIGN
• Runs ONLY when you click the extension (or press Alt+Shift+M).
• 100% local processing. No servers, no analytics, no accounts, no ads.
• Never reads cookies, tokens, history, or hidden conversations.
• No host permissions: the extension cannot see any page until you invoke it,
and it refuses to run outside chatgpt.com / chat.openai.com.

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO — BY CHOICE
No full-conversation export, no bulk backup, no cloud sync, no automation of
your ChatGPT account. It does not modify ChatGPT's interface, does not add
options to ChatGPT's own menus, and does not call any internal API. A more
"convenient" tool would do those things; we deliberately don't. We respect
OpenAI's product as it is — this extension only offers a local way to save
the document you can already see, for people who write long Markdown
documents in Canvas.

KNOWN LIMITS
It exports what is currently rendered on screen: the open Canvas version, or
visible writing blocks. Content scrolled far out of a long conversation, and
hidden canvas history versions, are out of scope by design.

AN HONEST TIP
If you only need occasional convenience, a custom instruction asking ChatGPT
to output documents as downloadable .md links covers many cases — no
extension required. This tool is for the rest: saving exactly what is
already on screen without regenerating it (regeneration can alter wording
and costs another message), and preserving math/LaTeX, which ChatGPT's own
copy and export paths often mangle.

Unofficial extension. Not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by OpenAI.
