About
PageChat is a sidebar-based commenting tool for the web. On any page you visit, you can view public comments for that specific page and post your own text-based insights to help future visitors understand context and different perspectives quickly. Core features • Page-level threads: Comments are grouped by page URL, and the thread updates automatically when you navigate to a different page. • Quick interaction: Post comments, read recent comments, and reinforce helpful content. • Account and sync: Sign up / log in with email and use the same account across devices. • Subscription options: Free users can access core features, while Pro users unlock broader reading and posting limits. Use cases • Capture quick takeaways while reading news, research reports, and documentation. • Enable asynchronous discussion for teams or communities around the same page. • Leave concise feedback on product, project, or tutorial pages to help later visitors make decisions. Permissions and why they are needed • sidePanel: Displays the main PageChat interface in the browser side panel. • storage: Stores session and basic local preferences. • tabs / activeTab: Detects the current tab URL and maps it to the correct page thread. • contextMenus: Provides a right-click shortcut to open PageChat quickly. • host permissions (http/https): Allows PageChat to run on the pages users choose to browse and fetch thread data for those pages. Privacy and security • We do not collect payment card details through the extension. • We do not read passwords or sensitive form input from websites. • Comment data is used only to provide page-level discussion features and basic abuse prevention. • Users can log out at any time and manage subscription renewal from the account area. • See our Privacy Policy and Terms for full details.
