About

# EC2Apply. Analyze Your Job Fit and Generate a Tailored Resume

EC2Apply is an AI-powered resume matching and tailoring extension that helps job seekers understand how well their professional profile matches a job before applying.

The extension provides a guided workflow for creating a professional profile, providing a job description, receiving a job-fit benchmark, reviewing gaps, updating the profile, reanalyzing the match, and generating a tailored resume.

Users can provide a job description by taking a screenshot of the job posting, uploading a PDF, DOC, or DOCX file, or copying and pasting the job description.

EC2Apply does not automatically submit applications, send emails, or make hiring decisions. The user remains in control of every profile update, generated resume, preview, and application action.

## What EC2Apply Does

EC2Apply compares a selected job description with the user’s saved professional profile and produces a benchmark showing an estimated match score, aligned qualifications, partially aligned areas, missing information, weakly represented experience, and recommendations.

The analysis may consider job titles, skills, work experience, responsibilities, tools, leadership, industry experience, education, certifications, projects, achievements, publications, and keywords from the job description.

Its purpose is to help users understand how closely their existing professional information aligns with a selected role.

## Complete User Flow

### 1. Log In to EC2Apply

The user begins by logging in to their EC2Apply account through the EC2Apply website.

An account is required so the extension can access the user’s saved professional profile, process the selected job description, store analysis results, and generate a tailored resume.

The extension uses the authenticated EC2Apply session only to support the requested resume-matching and tailoring workflow.

### 2. Upload or Create a Professional Profile

Before analyzing a job, the user must have a professional profile in EC2Apply.

The user can prepare the profile by:

* Uploading an existing resume as a PDF
* Uploading an existing resume as a DOC or DOCX file
* Creating a professional profile manually through the EC2Apply website
* Reviewing and updating a profile already saved in EC2Apply

The profile may contain the user’s name, contact details, professional summary, job titles, employment history, responsibilities, skills, tools, education, certifications, projects, publications, achievements, awards, languages, leadership experience, and industry experience.

The uploaded resume or manually created profile becomes the source information used for job-fit analysis and tailored resume generation.

The user is responsible for confirming that the profile is complete, current, and accurate.

### 3. Visit Any Job Board or Careers Website

After preparing the profile, the user visits a job posting on any job board, recruitment platform, company careers page, applicant tracking system, employer portal, or other website displaying a job opportunity.

EC2Apply is designed to support job descriptions from different websites and is not limited to one job board.

The user chooses which opportunity to analyze. The extension does not automatically analyze every webpage the user visits.

### 3.1 Capture the Job Description by Screenshot

The user can capture the selected job posting by taking a screenshot.

This is useful when the job description cannot be copied, the website prevents text selection, the page uses an embedded layout, the description appears inside an image, or the user wants to capture only a specific part of the posting.

The screenshot should clearly show relevant information, such as the job title, responsibilities, required and preferred skills, experience requirements, education, certifications, tools, and other qualifications.

The user controls when the screenshot is captured. EC2Apply does not automatically take screenshots while the user browses.

### 3.2 Upload the Job Description

The user can upload a job description saved as a PDF, DOC, or DOCX file.

This option may be used when an employer or recruiter provides the job description as a document, the user has saved the posting locally, or the description is too long for a single screenshot.

EC2Apply processes only the file selected by the user. The user is responsible for selecting the correct file and confirming that it contains the intended job description.

### 3.3 Copy and Paste the Job Description

The user can manually copy the job description from the job website and paste it into the extension.

The pasted content may include the job title, company information, responsibilities, required qualifications, preferred qualifications, skills, experience requirements, education, certifications, tools, technologies, and other relevant details.

This method gives the user direct control over the exact text included in the analysis.

### 4. Click “Analyze My Fit”

After providing the job description, the user clicks Analyze My Fit.

EC2Apply compares the selected job description with the user’s saved professional profile.

The analysis may evaluate:

* Alignment between the user’s job titles and the target role
* Skills found in both the profile and job description
* Relevant responsibilities and work experience
* Required tools and technologies
* Years and type of experience
* Education and certification requirements
* Leadership or management experience
* Industry knowledge, projects, and achievements
* Keywords and terminology used in the posting

The analysis is based on the information provided by the user and the selected job description.

## Job-Fit Benchmark

After the analysis, EC2Apply provides a job-fit benchmark that may include:

* Overall match score
* Matching skills and experience
* Matching qualifications
* Partially aligned qualifications
* Missing qualifications
* Missing keywords
* Weakly represented responsibilities
* Recommended profile improvements
* Important job requirements

The match score is an estimated measure of how closely the available profile information aligns with the selected job description.

The score is not a guarantee of passing an applicant tracking system, receiving an interview, being contacted by a recruiter, receiving an offer, or being hired.

Employers may use different screening systems, hiring criteria, and evaluation methods. EC2Apply provides guidance to the user but does not make hiring decisions.

### 4.1 Review Gaps and Reanalyze

After receiving the benchmark, the user reviews qualifications, skills, or experience identified as missing, weak, or partially represented.

A missing item does not always mean the user lacks the qualification. The user may have relevant experience that was not included in the original profile or was not described clearly.

The user may update the profile with truthful information, including:

* Existing skills not previously listed
* Tools or platforms the user has used
* Relevant responsibilities
* Completed projects
* Earned certifications
* Leadership experience
* Industry knowledge
* Achievements and measurable results
* Relevant education
* Other valid qualifications

The user should not add false skills, fabricated employment history, unearned certifications, false job titles, inaccurate achievements, misleading responsibilities, or any other untrue information.

EC2Apply is intended to help users present their real qualifications more clearly and relevantly.

After updating the profile, the user clicks Reanalyze.

EC2Apply compares the updated profile with the same job description and creates a new benchmark. The updated score may increase, decrease, or remain the same.

The score may remain unchanged when the added information does not materially improve alignment or when the original profile already represented the qualification.

The user may repeat the update and reanalysis process until satisfied that the profile accurately reflects their experience.

### 5. Click “Tailored Resume”

When satisfied with the benchmark, the user clicks Tailored Resume.

EC2Apply uses the job description, professional profile, and analysis results to prepare a resume focused on the target role.

The tailored resume may:

* Emphasize relevant work experience
* Prioritize matching skills
* Highlight applicable qualifications
* Improve the professional summary
* Use relevant terminology from the job description
* Strengthen descriptions of responsibilities
* Highlight measurable achievements
* Organize information according to job relevance
* Reduce emphasis on unrelated information
* Improve clarity and readability

EC2Apply does not intentionally invent experience or qualifications that the user has not provided.

### 5.1 Select a Resume Template

Before generating the resume, the user selects an available template.

Templates may differ in layout, typography, header design, section order, spacing, visual hierarchy, page structure, and overall presentation.

The selected template determines how the user’s professional information appears in the generated resume.

### 5.2 Select a Color Theme

The user selects an available color theme.

The theme may affect section headings, dividers, accent elements, header styling, labels, icons, highlighted information, and other visual elements.

The user controls which template and color theme are applied.

### 6. Generate the Tailored Resume

After selecting the template and color theme, the user generates the tailored resume.

The generated resume is based on the selected job description, saved professional profile, relevant work experience, matching skills and qualifications, job-fit benchmark, selected template, and selected color theme.

The user should review the generated resume for:

* Correct name and contact details
* Correct job titles, employer names, and dates
* Accurate responsibilities and skills
* Correct education and certifications
* Accurate projects and achievements
* Appropriate wording
* Complete sections
* Correct formatting and page layout
* Overall factual accuracy

AI-generated content may contain errors or wording that requires editing. The user remains responsible for verifying all content before using the resume.

### 7. Click “Preview”

After the tailored resume is generated, the user clicks Preview.

The Preview action redirects the user to the EC2Apply resume preview page.

The user can review the professional summary, work history, skills, certifications, education, projects, achievements, template, color theme, spacing, page breaks, section order, and overall appearance.

The preview gives the user an opportunity to identify inaccurate, incomplete, or incorrectly formatted information before using the resume.

### 8. Click “Apply”

After reviewing the tailored resume, the user clicks Apply.

The Apply action redirects the user to Gmail.

EC2Apply does not automatically send an email, attach a resume, or submit a job application.

After Gmail opens, the user remains responsible for entering the recipient, writing or reviewing the message, adding a subject, attaching the correct resume and supporting documents, reviewing the final email, and sending it.

The user remains in control of the complete application process.

The user controls the profile, job description, screenshot or file, pasted text, analysis, profile updates, reanalysis, resume generation, template, color theme, preview, Gmail redirect, and final email.

## Data Processed and How It Is Used

To provide its features, EC2Apply may process account and authentication information, professional profile and resume content, contact details contained in the profile, employment history, skills, education, certifications, projects, publications, achievements, uploaded resume files, job titles, company details, job descriptions, job posting URLs, screenshots, uploaded job-description files, pasted text, benchmark results, match scores, gap results, template and color preferences, generated resume content, and current session information.

This information may be used to authenticate the user, maintain the session, store or update the profile, process selected files or screenshots, compare the profile with the job description, generate benchmarks and recommendations, reanalyze a job, generate tailored resume content, apply the selected design, provide the preview, preserve workflow progress, and deliver the requested service.

EC2Apply does not sell personal information. It does not make employment decisions on behalf of employers or use a match score to approve or reject candidates.

## Service Providers

EC2Apply may use service providers to support authentication, database, storage, document processing, and AI functionality.

These providers may include EC2Apply, Supabase, and OpenAI through the EC2Apply server.

AI requests are processed through the EC2Apply backend. Private server credentials and secret API keys are not included in the extension package. Only credentials intended for client-side use, such as a publishable Supabase key, may be included.

## Local Storage

The extension may store limited authentication, session, job-draft, screenshot, side-panel, template, color, and workflow information locally in Chrome so the user’s current activity can be restored when the side panel is reopened.

## Website Access

Job opportunities appear across many websites. EC2Apply requests website access so the user can capture the selected job posting and use the side panel while viewing it. The extension does not automatically analyze unrelated pages or collect complete browsing history.

## Important Limitations

EC2Apply provides AI-generated job-fit analysis and resume-writing assistance.

Results may not always be complete, accurate, or suitable for every job. Users should independently review match scores, matching qualifications, missing qualifications, recommendations, generated summaries, work descriptions, keywords, job requirements, resume content, dates, contact information, formatting, and application requirements.

A high match score does not guarantee an interview, recruiter response, job offer, or employment.

A lower match score does not automatically mean the user is unqualified.

Employers may evaluate candidates using information not included in the job description.

The user is responsible for deciding whether to apply and for ensuring that all submitted information is accurate.

## Single Purpose

EC2Apply has one primary purpose:

Help users compare their professional profile with a selected job description, review a job-fit benchmark, improve the presentation of their real qualifications, generate a tailored resume, preview the generated resume, and open Gmail to continue the application.
