  Persist embeds your AI chat history directly into your PDF’s metadata—not in the
    cloud. Upload the same file again in Claude, ChatGPT, or other supported chats and
    pick up where you left off.
    HOW IT WORKS
    • Upload a PDF in a supported AI chat as you normally would.
    • Persist shows a small badge while you work and captures the conversation for that
    file.
    • Click Save Memory to download an updated PDF with history stored inside the file.
    • Next time you upload that PDF, your thread context loads automatically.
    PRIVACY
    • No Persist backend for your chats—history lives in the PDF and local browser
    storage.
    • Optional “smart compression” can summarize long history using an API you configure
    with your own key; you pay the provider directly, not Persist.
    TIPS
    • Works best when you keep using the same PDF as your working document across
    sessions.
    • Clear local memory from the extension popup if you want to reset stored session data
     on this device.
    Requires Chrome 88+ (Manifest V3). MIT licensed, open source.
