FocusGuard is a local-first Chrome extension for people who want a calmer browser without giving their browsing data to a cloud service.

Create blocking rules for entire domains, URL prefixes, or exact pages. FocusGuard enforces those rules with Chrome Manifest V3 dynamic rules and redirects blocked navigations to a clear, branded blocked page.

FocusGuard also treats YouTube as a first-class focus surface. Choose Open, Focus, or Full Block, or adjust advanced controls for Shorts, comments, related videos, home recommendations, subscriptions, explore/trending, end-screen recommendations, mini-player, engagement controls, and autoplay.

Strict Mode can add a delay and typed confirmation before sensitive changes. Focus sessions let you start a timed protection window, and lightweight local stats show how often FocusGuard intervenes.

FocusGuard is built to stay understandable. It does not claim to be impossible to bypass. Browser extensions can be disabled or removed unless the browser is managed by administrator policy.
