Safe Attachment Check is a Chrome extension that lets you review information hidden inside a file before sending it when you attach the file to an email, chat, or web form.

It can check for information that may not be visible on screen, such as location data in photos, author names in PDF files, tracked changes in Word documents, and hidden sheets in Excel workbooks.

The extension does not delete files, modify their contents, or automatically stop uploads.

After reviewing the displayed results, you can decide whether to send the file as it is or inspect it again.

【Supported Files】

・JPEG, PNG, and WebP images
→ GPS location data, date and time taken, camera manufacturer, camera model, creation or editing software, and more

・PDF
→ Title, author, company name, creation application, conversion software, annotations, comments, and more

・Word (.docx)
→ Author, last modified by, company name, tracked changes, comments, and more

・Excel (.xlsx)
→ Author, last modified by, company name, hidden sheets, hidden rows and columns, comments, defined names, and more

【Main Features】

・Automatic checks when files are attached
→ Detects files added through a file picker or drag and drop, and automatically checks supported file types.

・Local processing
→ All file checks are performed locally in your browser.

・No external transmission
→ File contents, file names, and check results are not sent to an external server.

・No file modification
→ The extension only displays the check results. It does not remove metadata, comments, or other information.

・Does not interfere with uploads
→ The extension does not clear selected files or automatically cancel uploads or submission actions.

・Displays results only when needed
→ Notifications can be shown only when relevant information is found. You can also configure the extension to display a confirmation every time a file is checked.

・Can be disabled for individual sites
→ You can disable file checks from the settings on sites where you do not want to use the extension.

【What This Extension Does Not Do】

・It does not upload files to an external server.
・It does not store files or check results.
・It does not modify file contents.
・It does not automatically remove metadata.
・It does not automatically allow or block file transmission.
・It does not collect browsing history or activity history.
・It does not use advertising or analytics.

【Examples of Use】

・Check whether location data remains in a photo before sending it by email or chat.
・Check the author name or company name before sending a PDF to a business partner.
・Check tracked changes and comments before submitting a Word document.

【Important Notes】

Safe Attachment Check does not detect every type of information that may be contained in a file.

A result stating that no information was found does not guarantee that the file contains no personal, confidential, or sensitive information.

This extension is not a substitute for a data loss prevention system or antivirus software.

Unsupported file formats, encrypted files, and password-protected files cannot be checked.

The maximum file size that can be checked is 45 MB per file. Up to 20 files can be checked in a single attachment operation.
