About

Ordinary Animator is an AI-powered animation production platform. This extension connects it to a ComfyUI installation running on your own machine, letting you generate images and video using your own GPU instead of — or alongside — a cloud service.

Why install it

Running ComfyUI locally gives you full control: no per-generation fees, no queue wait times, access to any custom node or model you choose to install, and the ability to experiment freely without worrying about cost. This extension is the bridge that makes that possible while you work in the Ordinary Animator browser app.

What it does

Browsers cannot connect directly to localhost for security reasons. This extension acts as a secure proxy: it intercepts requests from ordinaryanimator.com that are destined for your local ComfyUI (at localhost:8188 by default) and forwards them on your behalf. The same applies to WebSocket connections, which Ordinary Animator uses to receive live progress updates as your jobs run.

The extension only ever forwards requests from ordinaryanimator.com to localhost. It cannot read your browsing activity, access other websites, or transmit any data anywhere else.

Permissions explained

  - localhost / 127.0.0.1 — required to reach your local ComfyUI instance
  - cloud.comfy.org — required to support Comfy Cloud connections when the cloud backend is also in use
  - Storage — used to remember your port configuration across sessions
