SuperchargeAudio fixes both. Boost any site's audio up to 600% without distortion, shape it with a 10-band EQ, and let smart mute handle the background noise automatically. Your settings are saved per site, so you never have to turn YouTube back up every session.

Volume boost 0–600%
A non-linear slider gives you fine control in the 0–100% range and broad power above it. Chrome badge shows your current level at a glance.

10-band equalizer + presets
Adjust 32 Hz through 16,000 Hz with ten independent bands. Ten ready-made presets: Flat, Bass Boost, Vocal/Voice, Treble, Loudness, Rock, Pop, Electronic, Acoustic, Small Speakers. Bass Boost preset for one-click warmth. Your EQ survives tab closes — it's still there when you come back.


STEREO, MONO, 8D & HEADPHONES

Stereo width slider
Continuous mid/side control from 0% (full mono mix) through 100% (unmodified stereo) to 200% (ultra-wide). Pull the soundstage apart or collapse it entirely — one slider.

Fix one ear
If you have uneven hearing, wear one earbud, or hit an occasional video where the audio only comes from one side: one tap merges L+R to mono and sends the full signal to both ears.

8D Audio
Slowly rotates the stereo image left↔right at ~12s per cycle. The "TikTok 8D audio" effect — fun on music with headphones.

Headphones (Bauer crossfeed)
Reduces the harsh hard-panned separation that fatigues your ears on headphones. Bleeds a low-passed copy of each channel into the other — the way the room would, if you were listening on speakers. Leave off for speakers.


PER-SITE MEMORY

Every site remembers your settings. Set 150% on Spotify once and it's there next session. Lower Teams calls and raise YouTube without touching anything else. Delete a site's entry when you want it back to default.

Global default EQ
Save your current EQ curve as the default for every site that has no per-site override. Sites with a custom curve keep their own; everything else inherits the default. Flat curve with no preset clears it.


SMART MUTE & AUDIBLE TABS

Smart mute (background tabs)
Keeps audio on the tab you're focused on; mutes everything else automatically. If you switch tabs, the new active tab unmutes. Options: silent mode (mute everything, even the active tab), exclude pinned tabs, per-site always-allow whitelist, per-site always-mute blacklist.

Audible tab list
See every tab currently making sound in one list. Click to switch, click the speaker icon to mute that tab individually, drag the volume slider to set that tab's level without switching to it. Mute all with one button.


🔒 ABOUT THE PERMISSION

SuperchargeAudio requests access to all sites. That's a Chrome requirement for audio processing — the Web Audio API needs to run on the page to modify the sound before it reaches your speakers. We use that access to apply your saved volume and EQ settings.

Two extra permissions, both opt-in: tabCapture and offscreen. They are dormant until you tap "Turn on capture" on a DRM-protected tab — at which point they let us boost the encrypted stream that the Web Audio API can't reach. No capture without your tap, and only on the tab you tapped it on.

No data is collected. No data is transmitted. The extension runs entirely on your device.

Our manifest is public and auditable. SuperchargeAudio has no webRequest permission, no remote configuration URL, no third-party scripts bundled in, and no analytics host in its network requests. There is no server-side component — nothing you do in the browser is transmitted anywhere.


WORKS ON

Works on streaming video, music, podcasts, calls — anywhere Chrome plays audio. Protected audio: if a site uses DRM encryption, a "Turn on capture" button appears in the popup; tap it to enable tab capture for that tab and boost the protected stream. Opt-in, per tab.
