About

The Scattered Saver is a budget tool built specifically for ADHD brains. It lives inside your browser and shows up exactly when you need it, while you are shopping, when a subscription renews, and when your payday lands. No spreadsheets. No opening a separate app. No remembering to check your budget after the fact.

What it does:

The Impulse Check activates automatically when you are on a product page on major online retailers. A small, non-intrusive panel shows your remaining budget for that spending category and the price of the item you are looking at. It does not block your purchase. It just gives your brain the information it needs at the exact moment it needs it.

The Subscription Tracker detects subscription confirmation pages from popular streaming and software services and logs them automatically. No manual entry required. You get a running total of what you are spending on subscriptions each month and a gentle reminder three days before anything renews.

The Payday Planner activates when you visit your bank's website. It prompts you to allocate your balance across your budget categories in under 60 seconds. Tap to split your money, save the plan, and your impulse check budgets update automatically.

Why install it:

Traditional budget apps fail ADHD users because they require you to remember to open them, enter information manually, and maintain a habit consistently over time. The Scattered Saver removes every one of those steps. It works passively in the background and only asks for your attention when something relevant is happening on screen.

Free tier includes:

Impulse check tool on supported shopping sites
Up to 3 budget categories
Manual subscription entry for up to 3 subscriptions
Payday planner with up to 3 categories
Paid tier at $5.99/month or $49/year includes:

Unlimited budget categories
Automatic subscription detection and tracking
Unlimited subscription entries
Renewal notifications 3 days before charges
3 months of budget history
CSV export of all categories and subscriptions
Start free. No account required. Set up takes under 2 minutes.

The extension works on a curated list of major online retailers, popular streaming and software subscription services, and major US and Canadian online banking sites. New sites are added regularly. Manual entry is always available for anything not auto-detected.

Frequently asked questions:

Does this access my bank account? No. The Scattered Saver never accesses your bank account or financial credentials. It detects when you visit your bank's website and prompts you to manually confirm your balance. You type the number in yourself.

Does it read my emails? No. Subscription detection works by recognizing confirmation page patterns in your browser only. The extension has no access to your inbox.

Where does my data go? Free tier data never leaves your device. Everything is stored locally in your browser. If you upgrade to the paid tier, your data syncs across devices via a secure backend so your budgets follow you everywhere.

Is this safe for people with financial anxiety? Yes. The Scattered Saver is designed to be gentle, non-judgmental, and never alarming. There are no red warning screens, no guilt-inducing language, and no persistent negative indicators. If you go over budget it acknowledges it briefly and moves forward. No shame, no spirals.

Can I use this without creating an account? Yes. The free tier requires no account and no sign-in. You install it, set up your categories in under 2 minutes, and it works immediately. An account is only required if you upgrade to the paid tier for cross-device sync.
