Browsing across dozens of tabs quickly becomes chaotic — GitHub pages mixed with documentation, YouTube and news scattered between work tools. Finding the tab you need means scanning through an unordered mess.

**Tab Sorter** groups your tabs by their domain and sorts them alphabetically, so all your GitHub tabs sit together, all your Google Docs are in one place, and everything is exactly where you'd expect it to be.

## How it works

- Click the extension icon
- Hit **Sort Tabs Now**
- Tabs are instantly reordered by domain — alphabetically, in every open window if you choose

## Key features

- **Domain grouping** — tabs are grouped by hostname; `www.` prefix is ignored so `www.github.com` and `github.com` are treated as one domain
- **Sort direction** — choose A → Z or Z → A
- **Order within domain** — keep the original tab order, or sort by page title or URL
- **Active tab anchoring** — the tab you're currently on stays in place, and all other tabs with the same domain are automatically pulled next to it
- **Pinned tab protection** — pinned tabs are never moved
- **Scope** — sort only the current window, or all open windows at once
- **Auto-sort** — optionally re-sort automatically whenever a tab is opened, closed, or navigated

## Privacy

Your tabs never leave your browser. The extension reads and reorders tabs locally — no data is collected, stored, or transmitted anywhere.
