About
Peech reads text in images out loud. Point at any picture — a worksheet, a textbook scan, a diagram, a screenshot — click "Read", and Peech extracts the text with on-device OCR and speaks it with natural, high-quality voices while highlighting each word on the image karaoke-style. WHY PEECH Most read-aloud tools stop at real text on the page. But so much of what learners actually face — school worksheets, scanned lesson PDFs shown as images, photographed textbook pages — is just pixels. Peech makes those images readable. KEY FEATURES • On-device OCR — text recognition runs locally in your browser (WebGPU-accelerated, no images uploaded to a server) • Natural voices — high-quality neural voices via the free Peech voice helper for Windows: Andrew and Ava (English), Adri and Willem (Afrikaans) • Karaoke word highlighting — follow along as each word is highlighted on the image itself, with customisable highlight colours and opacity • Sections mode — long worksheets are split into sections; skip back and forward like a music player • Mixed-language smart reading — Afrikaans documents with embedded English phrases are handled gracefully • Afrikaans-aware speech — numbers, units (113g → "113 gram"), and letter markers are spoken correctly • Adjustable speed — from very slow to fast, remembered per language • Hover to read — an unobtrusive "Read" button appears when you hover over images • Right-click any image → "Read Image Text" • Fast — images are pre-processed in the background, so reading typically starts in about a second BUILT FOR LEARNERS Peech was designed for school learners — including dyslexic and second-language readers — working with real classroom material: scanned worksheets, photographed pages, and online lesson platforms that serve content as images. Parents and teachers can set it up once and let learners read independently. LANGUAGES English (US) and Afrikaans, with language-specific text recognition for accurate Afrikaans characters (ë, ê, ô, ï) and natural Afrikaans pronunciation of numbers and abbreviations. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install the extension and create a Peech account 2. Install the free Peech voice helper (Windows) for premium voices and word highlighting — without it, Peech falls back to your browser's built-in voices 3. Hover over any image with text and click "Read" PRIVACY FIRST • Text recognition happens entirely on your device — images never leave your browser • Speech is generated through the local helper app on your own machine • No browsing history collected SUBSCRIPTION Peech is a paid subscription ($7.99/month or $79.99/year) with billing handled securely by Paddle. One subscription covers your account. SUPPORT Questions or problems? Visit https://peech-theta.vercel.app or contact us through the support tab.
