About
No Autoplay, Thanks! is a lightweight Chrome extension that helps stop unwanted autoplaying video and audio on websites while still allowing normal manual playback. It is made for people who want a quieter browsing experience without random videos starting by themselves, surprise audio, silent moving previews, or media players behaving like they own the page. The extension focuses on one simple job: reducing unwanted autoplay media. Main features: • Helps stop autoplaying video and audio • Removes autoplay from detected video and audio elements where possible • Pauses media that starts without recent user interaction • Allows normal manual playback when you choose to press play • Includes a global on/off switch • Lets you allow autoplay on the current website • Includes an option to allow muted autoplay • Includes an option to reduce media preloading where possible • Uses a simple popup interface • Uses Manifest V3 • Uses no remote code • Uses no analytics • Uses no tracking • Uses no ads The extension is intentionally lightweight. Some aggressive autoplay blockers try to fight every media player on every page, but that can break custom players, interfere with heavy web apps, or make browsing less stable. No Autoplay, Thanks! uses a compatibility-first approach instead. It tries to stop common autoplay behaviour without turning itself into another annoying problem. Manual playback should still work normally. If you click or tap a video or audio player, the extension treats that as user intent and allows playback shortly afterwards. This extension will not stop every autoplay video on the internet. Some websites use custom JavaScript players, unusual embedded media systems, closed components, or non-standard setups. No Autoplay, Thanks! catches many common cases, but it cannot guarantee perfect blocking on every website. Privacy: No Autoplay, Thanks! does not collect personal data. It does not track browsing history. It does not use analytics. It does not show ads. It does not send data to a remote server. It does not load remote code. Settings are stored using Chrome storage so the extension can remember your choices, such as whether blocking is enabled, whether muted autoplay is allowed, and which websites you have allowed. In short: it is a small, quiet Chrome extension for reducing autoplay nonsense.
