About

Tab Man is for people who keep too many tabs open across too many windows. Click the toolbar icon (or hit Alt+Shift+T) to open a full-page manager: every tab from every window in one sortable, filterable table — plus auto-grouping rules, scheduled tab opens, per-site daily time budgets, and a home-tab toggle. Every destructive action has five steps of undo.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ONE TABLE, ALL YOUR TABS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

• Sort by any column. Shift-click headers to add tiebreakers with rank indicators
• Filter by title, URL, domain, or tab-group name
• Group the view by domain, window, tab group, or age
• Multi-select with shift-click ranges; group-header checkboxes select every tab in that bucket
• Click a title to jump to the tab; ✕ to close it; ⌂ to set as home
• Bulk actions: close, add to group, create new group, ungroup
• Friendly per-window labels (W1, W2…) so you can tell windows apart
• Live updates — the manager subscribes to Chrome's tab events; no polling

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
AUTO-GROUPING RULES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Route tabs into colored Chrome tab groups as they navigate.

• Match by Domain (hostname + subdomains) or URL prefix (subdomain-tolerant)
• Drag rule cards to set precedence — first match wins
• "Apply now" does a clean-slate reorganize across all windows

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
SCHEDULED TAB OPENS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Open a URL in a new, focused tab at a chosen time.

• Repeating: fires at a set time on chosen days of the week
• One-time: fires once at a specific date and time, then auto-deletes
• Catches up if Chrome was off when the firing time passed (toggleable)
• "Open now" button on any row fires the schedule immediately

Backed by chrome.alarms so firing works while the browser is idle.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
PER-SITE TIME BUDGETS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Cap your daily time on specific sites.

• Match by Domain or URL prefix; set minutes per day
• Time only counts when the site's tab is active AND its window is focused
• When exhausted, matching pages redirect to a block screen with the local-midnight reset time and a Snooze +9 minutes button
• Uses dynamic host permissions — Chrome only grants access to a site when YOU add a budget for it

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
HOME TAB
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Designate one tab as "home" and jump to it from anywhere.

• Same shortcut bounces back to where you came from
• Per-window mode: each window can keep its own independent home
• Survives Chrome restarts — re-links the saved URL to a matching tab on startup, or reopens it if no match
• The home tab gets a 🏠 mark and a green tint in the manager

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
RIGHT-CLICK CLEANUP
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Right-click any page or the toolbar icon for granular closures with live counts:

• Close this exact page
• Close everything under host/path/*
• Close everything on host
• Close everything on *.apex-domain
• Close OTHER tabs on this host
• Close duplicate tabs

Pinned tabs are protected. Slots that would kill the same set are collapsed.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
FIVE-STEP UNDO
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Every close, group, ungroup, rule delete, schedule delete, budget delete, and import can be reversed with the toast button or ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z. Closed tabs come back via chrome.sessions.restore so history and scroll position are preserved.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
EXPORT / IMPORT
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

A versioned JSON bundle round-trips your auto-group rules, schedules, budgets, and (opt-in) full workspace — every open window with all its tabs and groups. Merge mode skips duplicates; replace mode wipes the section first. Workspace imports always open as new windows alongside what you've got, never destructive.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Defaults — rebind any of them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts:

• Open Tab Manager — Alt+Shift+T
• Home Tab: go / toggle — Alt+Shift+H
• Home Tab: back to recent — Alt+Shift+B
• Home Tab: set current as home — Alt+Shift+S
• Regroup this window by domain
• Regroup this window by recency
• Apply auto-group rules
• Ungroup this window
• Open Tab Man and focus search

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
PRIVACY
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

• Zero network calls — all data stays in your browser
• No content scripts, no remote code; the manager and block screen are local extension pages
• Budget blocking uses dynamic host permissions — Chrome only grants Tab Man access to a site when you add a budget for it
• No analytics, no tracking, no remote servers
