A social warning extension ScamsSpotter which helps the users aware of the scam websites, scam emails and scam profiles in social media.

The warning is through a dynamic notification on Google chrome browser. Apart from warning, ScamsSpotter extension helps you identify scam websites, social media profiles of scammers or businesses categorized as scams, and emails and report them to our team which will carefully analyze and based on the analysis will warn the other users of this website or email or the social media profile.

This is a community-based reporting plugin which has two main aspects. Data from people’s reports and also authorities are analyzed and when the user is in the website a warning notification is shown for a few seconds. Based on the severity of the website, the notification will be shown as red for scam websites.

Working Process:

A list of scam websites and social media pages (Facebook and twitter for now) are analyzed and based on various reports by people and authorities the installed users of this extension are warned.

There are two ways a scam notification is shown.

Scam Spotted:

The notification will be inactive or not so prominent if the website is not a scam or not reported yet. When you visit a website that has already been reported or was analysed to be a scam, the notification will be prominent and will warn the users.

Report Scam:

Users who are victims to scam or believes that there is some kind of untoward activity happening on the website can report it to our team. With the help of our data research team the reports will be analyzed and updated to warn other users.

ScamsSpotter is a community-based report extension which will carefully analyze and notify the users of scams happening in the internet. Our intention is to minimize scams by notifying users who have installed this extension and also make this a community by your contribution through reporting either a website is safe or appear to be scam.
