About
Read it 1000 years later is a Chrome side panel extension for turning long web pages into structured reading notes. Open the extension on an article, blog post, documentation page, or other text-heavy web page, then click Summarize to extract the readable content and generate a clear, language-aware summary. You can switch between English and Chinese summaries, ask follow-up questions grounded in the current page, and generate a deeper research-style README for later reading. Key features: - Extract readable page content locally with Mozilla Readability. - Generate structured summaries with quick take, deep dive, key terms, and references. - Translate summaries on demand between English and Chinese. - Ask follow-up questions based on the current page and summary. - Generate a Deep Read README for long-term research notes. - Optionally save generated Deep Read notes to a GitHub repository you configure. - Optionally cache summaries, Deep Read drafts, and recent Ask history locally. - Configure your own HTTPS Chat Completions-compatible LLM endpoint and API key. Why install it: Read it 1000 years later helps you understand long pages faster, keep useful research notes, and revisit important ideas later without losing the original context. Privacy: The extension processes the current page only when you use its reading features. Page content is sent only to the HTTPS LLM endpoint you configure. Optional GitHub sync sends generated README content only to the repository you choose. The extension does not sell user data or use it for advertising.
