About

Capture and preserve web pages as verifiable digital records.

VerityRecord captures a web page's screenshot, rendered HTML, and key metadata, and adds them to a draft evidence bag in your VerityRecord account. Sealing happens on verityrecord.com after the capture: you review the bag and seal it with a SHA-3 cryptographic hash, an RFC 3161 timestamp, and a certificate.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Sign in at verityrecord.com: the extension follows your site session
2. Open the page you want to preserve
3. Click the extension icon and select Capture (or use the right-click menu / keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+S)
4. The capture is added to your latest draft bag (or a new one is created), and the bag opens for review
5. Seal the bag on verityrecord.com when ready

WHAT IS CAPTURED
• A screenshot of the visible page area (or the full scrollable page if you enable that option in Settings)
• A snapshot of the page's rendered HTML
• OpenGraph metadata: title, description, image, favicon

KEY FEATURES
• One-click capture from toolbar, right-click menu, or keyboard shortcut
• Right-click any link to add that URL to a bag without leaving the page
• Optional expansion of truncated content on supported platforms before the HTML snapshot
• Screenshot, HTML, and metadata captured in parallel
• Automatic retry on temporary network errors
• Duplicate URL detection (configurable window, default 5 minutes)
• Capture status via toolbar badge and desktop notifications
• Dark and light themes (follows OS preference, overridable in Settings)
• English and Turkish language support

SECURITY AND PRIVACY
• Firebase Authentication: no API keys stored; the extension follows your verityrecord.com session
• Auth tokens are exchanged through Chrome's secure extension messaging, never through the page DOM
• A cryptographic nonce prevents replay attacks during login
• All communication over HTTPS
• Only the page HTML, screenshot, and metadata are sent: never cookies, passwords, browsing history, or tracking data
• Captured data goes only to your own VerityRecord account

COMMON USES
• Preserving social media posts and online content
• Intellectual property documentation
• Compliance and audit records
• Insurance claim documentation
• Journalism and source preservation
• Academic research and citation archiving
