  ### Why use a clipboard manager?
  
  Every time you copy something, the previous clipboard content is overwritten. If you need that old link, code snippet, or note again, you have to find and copy it again. Clipboard Manager Free solves this by:
  
  • **Saving your copies** — Text you copy or cut on any website is automatically added to your local history (you control how many items are kept).  
  • **Letting you paste from history** — Open the popup or use the right-click menu to paste any previous item into the current page.  
  • **Keeping things organized** — Items are automatically labeled as URLs, emails, phone numbers, code, colors, or plain text, so you can filter and find what you need quickly.  
  • **Protecting sensitive data** — The extension tries to avoid saving content that looks like passwords, credit card numbers, or one-time codes. Such content is not added to history.
  
  All of this runs entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers or any third party.

  ### Main features
  
  **Clipboard history**
  • Automatically saves text you copy or cut on web pages.  
  • Configurable maximum history size (e.g. 50, 100, 200, 500, or 1000 items).  
  • Optional auto-cleanup: remove items older than 7, 14, 30, or 90 days (pinned items are never auto-removed).  
  • Duplicate copies move the existing item to the top and update its timestamp.
  
  **Smart classification**
  • Each item is tagged by type: URL, email, phone, number, color (e.g. hex codes), code, or text.  
  • Filter the list by type (All, Pinned, URLs, Emails, Code, Numbers, Text) for faster searching.  
  • Full-text search across your history so you can find old snippets in seconds.
  
  **Paste from anywhere**
  • **Popup** — Click the extension icon to open your history, search, filter, copy, or delete items. One click copies an item back to the clipboard.  
  • **Context menu** — Right-click in any editable field (input, textarea, or contentEditable) to see "Clipboard Manager" with your pinned and recent items. Choose an item to paste it directly into the field.  
  • **Keyboard shortcut** — Use Ctrl+Shift+V (Windows/Linux) or Command+Shift+V (Mac) to open the popup quickly.
  
  **Pinned items**
  • Pin important snippets so they stay at the top and are never removed by auto-cleanup or "Clear all."  
  • Pinned items appear first in the context menu and in the popup.
  
  **Appearance and preferences**
  • Light, dark, or system (auto) theme.  
  • Optional context menu and notification toggles in settings.  
  • Clean, responsive UI with smooth animations and clear feedback when you copy or paste.
  
  **Data control**
  • **Export** — Download your full history as a text file from the popup or the options page.  
  • **Clear all** — Remove all non-pinned items in one click (pinned items are kept).  
  • **Settings** — Adjust history size, auto-cleanup period, theme, and privacy-related options.  
  • All data is stored locally in your browser; you can uninstall at any time.

  ### Privacy and security
  
  • **Local only** — Clipboard history and settings are stored only on your device using Chrome’s local storage.  
  • **No servers** — We do not collect, upload, or analyze your clipboard content. No analytics or tracking.  
  • **Sensitive data** — The extension tries not to save content that looks like passwords, credit cards, OTP codes, or similar. When such content is detected, it is not added to history.

  ### Permissions in plain language
  
  • **Storage** — To save and load your clipboard history and settings on your device.  
  • **Context menu** — To show "Clipboard Manager" and your recent items when you right-click in editable fields and to paste the selected item.  
  • **Access to pages** — A small script runs on web pages to detect when you copy or cut (so we can add that text to history) and to paste text when you choose an item from the context menu. The script does not read or send full page content.  
  • **Alarms** — To run the optional auto-cleanup of old items on a schedule (e.g. every hour).  
  • **Clipboard read/write** — To copy items from history to the clipboard and to support paste behavior.  
  
  We do not use these permissions to send your data anywhere.

  ### Getting started
