HOW IT WORKS
The test runs against Cloudflare's open measurement network — the same edge that powers speed.cloudflare.com, with servers in 300+ cities. Your test almost always reaches a server just a few milliseconds away, so you measure your connection, not the distance to some far-away test server. Several parallel connections stream data for a few seconds each way; the headline number is the 90th percentile of continuously sampled throughput after ramp-up, and upload counts only server-confirmed bytes.
