Steno — Notepad

About

Steno is a fast little notepad that lives in your browser toolbar. Click the icon and a steno pad opens: ruled paper, the classic red margin line, and a clean writing surface. Jot a thought, then get it back out with one tap — the COPY TEXT button sends the whole note to your clipboard.

It's built for the way you actually use a browser. Found a paragraph on a page you want to keep? Select it, press "grab," and it drops straight into a new note with the source page attached. No copy-paste-switch-tabs dance.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

- Export any note as a .txt file.

HANDY SHORTCUTS
- Open Steno: Ctrl+Shift+Y (Cmd+Shift+Y on Mac)
- New note: Ctrl/Cmd + N
- Focus search: Ctrl/Cmd + K
- Copy the open note: Ctrl/Cmd + Enter
- Back to the list: Esc

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your notes never leave your computer. Everything is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage, and nothing is sent to any server. Steno has no account, no tracking, and no ads. The "grab" feature only reads the page when you press the button — never in the background.

Steno keeps it simple: open, write, copy, done.
